In capitalist Denmark, it is not easy for young painters to make a living by painting. Inspired by the first cartoon published in the cultural struggle that year, he decided to take the road of cartoonist. Since then, many cartoons of Peter have appeared in the cultural struggle. The Cultural Struggle is an economically embarrassing magazine. The works published by the author in this magazine are voluntary and unpaid, so Peter still lives without a livelihood. However, it didn't take long for Peter's talent to attract the attention of the private newspaper Beling Times, and they invited Peter to open a humorous cartoon column in the newspaper every day. This column has been published for more than 70 consecutive issues, which has won Peter a wide social reputation. Soon, he was hired as Art editor's agent in the Social Democrat.

The Social Democratic Party, the organ of the Danish Social Democratic Party, obviously held an anti-fascist view at that time. At first, Peter was responsible for drawing some decorations and sketches. Later, he drew some funny cartoons for Danish wine on the advertising column. Peter once said humorously, "I can't say how much my paintings have increased the sales of Danish wine, but advertising paintings are very helpful to me, because I can have the opportunity to publish a full-page humorous comic strip in the Sunday newspaper." During this period, Peter got in touch with Danish underground producers. Although he has worked in the Social Democratic newspaper for eight years, his political views are diametrically opposed to the newspaper. In order to confuse the Danish police and the Gestapo, Peter has been working in a newspaper, which has become his special shield. During the German occupation, Peter drew many cartoon postcards satirizing the cooperation with the occupiers, and used the money from selling these postcards to support the resistance movement of the Danish Production Party. Peter's humorous cartoons caused great repercussions. Peter's Sunday humorous cartoon column was rated as the most popular work in the reader selection activity held by 1942 Social Democratic Party Supplement, and his salary doubled. After leaving the Social Democrat, Peter began to work for Land and People, the organ of the Danish Production Party, which was still underground. 1945 After the liberation of Denmark, newspapers were made public. The newspaper Land and Man has opened up a vast world for Peter to show his talents. Although his income here is much less than that in the newspaper Social Democratic Party, he is mentally happy.
