Its predecessor was Changzhou July 1st University of Technology, which was founded in 1978. 65438-0980 Changzhou Vocational College was established with the approval of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. 1982, approved by the Ministry of Education, Changzhou Institute of Technology was established. In 2000, Changzhou Institute of Technology and Changzhou Machinery Metallurgy Workers College merged to form Changzhou Institute of Technology, which was upgraded to an undergraduate course. In 2003, Changzhou Normal University (to be established), which inherited the century-old context of Changzhou Normal Education, was merged into Changzhou Institute of Technology. After 40 years of construction and development, the school has now become a multi-disciplinary local institution of higher learning with engineering as the mainstay and seven disciplines of engineering, science, management, economics, literature, teaching and art developing in harmony.
The school has Liaohe Road Campus, Wushan Road Campus, Guilin Road College of Continuing Education and Changjiang Road Science and Technology Industrial Park, with a total area of nearly 1.300 mu.
