How to correctly understand and scientifically treat the relationship between personal cultivation and social civilization progress, how to understand the connotation requirements of personal cultivation, how to Consciously strengthening personal cultivation is an important life topic that everyone, especially contemporary Chinese college students who represent the future of the nation, must understand and solve. This article talks about some of my superficial understanding.

1. There is a positive relationship between personal cultivation and the progress of social civilization

What is cultivation? Cultivation is a virtue manifested in culture, quality, thought and knowledge, and is the foundation of a noble life. An inner strength. Self-cultivation is not something that only certain groups of people should possess, but should be possessed by all human beings. Personal cultivation refers to a certain level of a person's theory, knowledge, art, thought, moral character, etc. It is also a reflection of a person's comprehensive ability and quality. Good self-cultivation can best reflect a person's taste and value. Only a person with high personal self-cultivation has the most personality and personality charm.

Paying attention to self-cultivation is a fine tradition of our Chinese nation since ancient times. The ancients said: "Cultivation of one's character, order of family, governance of country, peace of the world" [1]. Putting "self-cultivation" at the first place shows that good personal cultivation is the prerequisite for career success. The ancients also said: "A gentleman must cultivate his moral character." "A correct mind is the foundation, and self-cultivation is the foundation." Good cultivation is the foundation of one's life, and it determines the success or failure of one's career. In fact, its importance lies not only in the individual itself, but also as a symbol of the degree of civilization and progress of a country and society. In a country, individuals are the main body, and the civilizational progress of a society is more reflected in the development of people. The level of personal cultivation of citizens can reflect the degree of civilization of a society and a country. Only when everyone's moral character is highly cultivated and civilized, will the overall quality of the country improve. If a person pays attention to moral cultivation, the small one will directly affect the individual's interpersonal relationships and role in social activities, affecting his own image; the large one will affect the country's reputation. From a logical relationship point of view, the relationship between personal cultivation and social civilization progress is: the higher the personal cultivation, the more civilized and progressive the society; the civilization progress of society reflects the improvement of personal cultivation, and in turn will further improve and sublimate each member of society personal cultivation, there is a positive relationship between them. As Mr. Lu Xun said: "If China wants to compete in the world, its first priority is to establish people, and then everything will be done after people are established." [2] "Establishing people" means to improve people's thoughts and civilized cultivation. It should be said that in the 60 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, especially in the 30 years of reform and opening up, our country's economy and society have developed rapidly, and the quality of our people has also been continuously improved. However, in comparison, the latter is still unsatisfactory. Not long ago I read an article by a compatriot living in Russia, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Russians are not willing to be neighbors with Chinese people, let alone rent houses to Chinese people. They say they can't stand the Chinese people's loud talking, spitting and unhygienic habits. I once saw a report saying that Singapore is a country where English is commonly spoken, and most of the slogans in public places in this country are written in English. However, some of the civilized and polite slogans, such as "No spitting", "No smoking", "No entering the lawn", etc. are written in Chinese. Why? The answer is: "Because most of the tourists who engage in these uncivilized behaviors are tourists from mainland China." Reflecting on the above two cases, I feel that some of our citizens are too poor in personal cultivation, and there is still a considerable gap with some countries. From this point of view, strengthening personal cultivation is an urgent need for the construction of socialist spiritual civilization and the call of the times.

In today's era, with the rapid development of economy and society and the development of media, non-utilitarian factors are still very important in establishing healthy and harmonious interpersonal relationships. A person's degree of optimism in the face of setbacks, his ability to control his emotions, his ability to understand other people's emotions, and his ability to communicate are all important aspects of self-cultivation. It plays a decisive role in deepening communication, improving personality charm, and promoting social harmony and stability.

2. The first requirement for personal cultivation is moral cultivation

The requirements for personal cultivation are quite rich, including ideological and political cultivation, moral cultivation, cultural cultivation, aesthetic cultivation and psychological cultivation. wait. These are very important and should be strengthened. Of course, it is indeed difficult to be comprehensive and perfect, but the first priority is to strengthen personal moral cultivation.

Morality has existed since ancient times. Morality has been valued by people since the birth of human society. It includes various aspects such as social morality, professional ethics and family virtues. Public morality is a code of conduct that citizens should uniformly abide by in social interactions and social life. It is also the most solid foundation and pillar of the entire moral system. The report of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that “vigorously promote patriotism, collectivism, and socialist ideas, focus on enhancing the awareness of integrity, and strengthen the construction of social morality, professional ethics, family virtues, and personal morality” [3]. Among them, strengthening the construction of personal moral character was formally proposed for the first time in a central document, which has important theoretical and practical significance. The report of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China added the construction of personal moral character, and moral construction has changed from "the construction of three virtues" to "the construction of four virtues". "Four Morals Construction" puts forward corresponding moral construction requirements from the social level, organizational level, family level and individual level respectively, enriching the socialist moral theoretical system and enriching the connotation of socialist moral construction. Personal moral construction plays a fundamental and pillar role in the construction of the "Four Virtues". Whether it is improving social morality, strengthening professional ethics, or promoting family virtues, it is inseparable from strengthening personal moral construction. In moral construction, "people-oriented" should start from the specific individual, pay attention to personal moral education, everyone should be moral, and everyone should cultivate themselves. This will undoubtedly help to improve the moral level of the whole society. The report of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasizes the construction of personal moral character, which actually requires every citizen to strengthen personal moral cultivation. At present, there are still a large number of areas in society that are difficult to regulate by laws and systems, and personal moral character is the "inherent law." The realization of social morality, professional ethics, and family virtues must ultimately rely on personal moral character. Personal morality is the embodiment of a certain society's moral principles and norms in personal thoughts and behaviors. It is a relatively stable and consistent moral characteristic and tendency displayed by a person in his overall moral behavior. Personal morality is not only the internalization of social moral principles and norms, but also the result of an individual's understanding, choice and practice of social morality as a subject. It is a moral trait that is personalized by an individual's behavioral activities in social life. When personal moral character is improved, one can "improve internal virtue to oneself and external virtue to others" [4] and promote social moral progress.

The content of citizen moral construction is "patriotic and law-abiding, courteous and honest, united and friendly, diligent and thrifty, self-reliant, dedicated and dedicated" [5]. These 20 words not only promote traditional virtues and inherit revolutionary morality, but also summarize new experiences in ideological and moral construction since reform and opening up. They have distinctive Chinese style and characteristics of the times. These 20 words cover all areas of social life and are applicable to different social groups. They are the basic rules of conduct that every citizen should abide by. Learning and practicing these 20 words should become the main theme of social morality, professional ethics, family virtues and personal character construction. The most critical thing here is to penetrate the specific requirements of these 20 words into the daily work and life of every member of society, turn them into the standards of self-cultivation and behavioral habits of every member of society, and become the conscious actions of every member of society.

3. Three ways to improve the level of personal moral cultivation

Anyone’s civilized cultivation is not innate, but depends on the gradual cultivation and practice of life. Exercise. So how to improve personal cultivation? There are three main ways to achieve it:

One of the ways to achieve it: serious self-study.

Knowledge is the ladder of human progress and the carrier of human qualities and abilities. Rich knowledge is the basis of knowledge and rituals. Without knowledge, there is no necessary foundation for human qualities and abilities. Therefore, at any time, solid knowledge foundation, broad knowledge vision and reasonable knowledge structure are important value goals we pursue. Knowledge-seeking and learning can improve human nature, and human nature is like wild flowers and plants. Only through pruning and transplanting through knowledge-seeking and learning can they become more perfect and beautiful. Therefore, if you want to improve your personal accomplishment, you must enrich yourself with scientific and cultural knowledge. Only by mastering scientific and cultural knowledge can people distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, understand beauty and ugliness, and correctly control themselves. As the saying goes, thoughts determine behavior, behavior determines habits, habits determine character, and character determines destiny. In particular, it needs to be pointed out that the ideological and moral cultivation and legal foundation we are studying are required courses to strengthen personal cultivation. Learning it well can help us establish a correct world outlook, outlook on life, and values. The world outlook, outlook on life, and values ??are closely related to people's entire spiritual world - psychological state, moral values, work taste, life taste, and how to behave in the world, etc., and are the theoretical foundation of personal cultivation. Only with the guidance of a correct world outlook, outlook on life, and values ??can we truly grasp the direction and goals of personal cultivation.

The second way to achieve it: be diligent in practice. The ultimate goal of learning is not knowledge itself, but changing the way you think and behave. If a person has the knowledge to be a person of noble moral character, then only by putting this knowledge into practice, adhering to the theory and practice, applying what he has learned, and achieving the unity of knowledge and action, and the consistency of words and deeds, can he become a noble person. A person can become a truly cultivated and humble gentleman, otherwise he will be a hypocrite who knows and does nothing. For college students, they are now in the most critical period of growth in their lives. What they do during this period will have a subtle impact on their psychological quality. Civilized behavior helps improve one's own psychological quality and also improves one's own moral character. If we do not pay attention to the cultivation of our own moral quality at this time, even if we have rich scientific and cultural knowledge, what use will it be to others, ourselves and society? To improve the level of personal cultivation, especially moral cultivation, of college students, we should start by strengthening civilized etiquette. Civilized etiquette is the foundation of learning and life, and the arm of healthy personal growth. Without civilized etiquette, there would be no basic moral bottom line. When studying, you should first learn to be a human being, learn to be a civilized person, learn to be a social person, starting from me, starting from every little thing. Don’t use foul language or spit; don’t litter or get into fights; watch your own feet and don’t trample on the lawn. Be polite when talking to teachers; dress neatly, appropriately and generously when entering and exiting public places; enter on time when watching various performances, take seats as required, stay quiet during the performance, do not make noises, do not applaud, and perform Applaud and express thanks after finishing; maintain normal dining order, do not cut in line or crowd, respect the canteen service staff; take the initiative to give up your seat to the elderly, pregnant women and children when taking the bus. In short, start from scratch, develop good behavioral habits, establish and maintain a good image of contemporary Chinese college students, and let our every word, deed, and every move show the beautiful brilliance of moral cultivation.

The third way to achieve it: Self-persistence and training. People often say that it is easy to be a good person for a while, but it is difficult to be a good person forever. Personal cultivation is a lifelong matter. A person's self-cultivation is not that his human qualities will always be maintained after reaching a certain level, but it is like sailing against the current. If he relaxes a little, all his previous efforts will be wasted. The more prosperous your life is, the more you will feel as if you are facing an abyss. You should pay more attention to personal cultivation and encourage yourself diligently. Personal cultivation and training must be paid attention to at all times and cannot be relaxed for a moment. Do everything well with solemn self-reliance and treat every word and deed with caution. Only in this way can you truly cultivate and maintain your own good moral character.

It can be said with certainty that everyone needs self-cultivation, and social progress requires everyone’s self-cultivation, especially today when we are promoting the modernization of socialism with Chinese characteristics and striving to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. important.

The formation of a person's correct ideology and noble morality requires a process of continuous deepening and transformation. Only through continuous learning and transformation, and always insisting on strict demands on oneself in practice, can personal cultivation be improved and perfected, and society can be better. It will be more civilized and progressive.
