The background of the story is closely related to The National SouthWest Associated University's history in Yunnan. National Southwest Associated University is a comprehensive university that moved to Kunming after the start of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China. On November 1, 1937, it was founded in Changsha by the National Peking University, the National Tsinghua University and the private Nankai University, and moved to Kunming in February, 1938.

The historical footage of Shen Guangyao (played by Wang Leehom) in the movie reflects the historical events such as The National SouthWest Associated University and Flying Tigers' anti-Japanese war in Yunnan in the first half of the 2th century. The location of these movie scenes is in Beidaying Grassland, Xundian County, which is 2 hours' drive from Kunming.

Xundian is in the northeast of Kunming, where there is a large plateau grassland and herds of cattle and sheep. During the May Day holiday, my friends and I drove the Volvo XC4 to visit the location of the movie "Nothing to Ask" in the Beidaying grassland in Xundian. Starting from Kunming on the expressway, Volvo's navigation assistance function makes long-distance high-speed driving very convenient. The model I am driving is T4 Sport Edition, and the dynamic performance in the 18-meter plateau area of Yunnan is very abundant. Coupled with the sports kit, the high-speed driving is very stable.

as we got off the expressway, we had to detour through country roads because we were building roads. The path into the countryside is very bumpy. Although most of them are cement roads, some sections are still under maintenance, and there are many "cannonball pits" roads. At this time, many cars coming by car are driving very hard, and the high ground clearance of XC4 shows great advantages.

After experiencing rugged roads and loess all over the sky, we finally drove to an extremely open grassland, which is Beidaying Grassland in Xundian County, Kunming. My car used to drive in the city. When I first drove to such a vast prairie, I suddenly felt refreshed and couldn't wait to ride on the grassland! [proud ]

XC4 has great advantages in grassland cross-country: excellent approach angle and departure angle, short wheelbase (compared with medium-sized SUV), high ground clearance and excellent four-wheel drive system, all of which make the self-driving journey fun and safe. In the movie "Don't Ask West East", people pull the stone roller to level the land, and the stone roller is still scattered on the grassland, almost one person tall.

The first thing that appears here is the tall wooden watchtower, which looks like entering the military restricted zone immediately. Unfortunately, the watchtower has no stairs and can't climb. Followed by a JEEP guide, I feel that I am still not powerful enough in front of XC4 [chuckle ]

After stopping, I will go straight ahead, which is a whole movie location. There is the most famous The National SouthWest Associated University classroom, and many scenes depicting young students taking classes in movies are shot here. The slogan "Stand for the survival of the country" with a sense of historical times can still be clearly seen on the exterior wall. I feel that I have returned to that war-torn era, and what young people are full of determined faces and resolutely go to the distance for the future of the country and the nation.

This is the podium where American instructors of the Flying Tigers select pilots. Unfortunately, it was not maintained after the filming, and now it has begun to run down. I also tried to walk across the balance beam as fast as Wang Leehom, and found it was not so difficult [chuckle ]

There were many scenes of Flying Tigers fighters in the movie, but unfortunately, according to our field observation, these planes were all models, but they were very realistic. Unfortunately, these airplane models have not been maintained in the local area. After weathering, they have begun to run down and look less and less like real airplanes [Khan ]
