Luohan Forest is located in Xuyong County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. Its main peak is 1902 meters above sea level, [4] the highest peak in Luzhou.

According to legend, Han Xiangzi, one of the "Eight Immortals", chose to practice in Sankou Pond of Luohan Forest. He ate jade pods, drank sweet springs, blended with the spirit of the earth's energy, gathered the glory of the sun and the moon, and finally achieved enlightenment. Before ascending to heaven, I give thanks to this place, stretch my sleeves, and the bamboo flute turns into Arhat bamboo everywhere. This bamboo is beautiful in appearance and strong in texture. The bamboo shoots produced are of high quality and delicious, rich in nutrients. It is a natural mountain treasure that has been enjoyed by the masses for thousands of years.

In the third year of Jiajing (1524), Yang Shen'an (Yang Shen), the number one scholar of the Ming Dynasty, was exiled to Yongchang, Yunnan due to the Dali Incident. Later, he traveled back and forth to Luzhou many times. It is said that Han Feixia accompanied Yang Sheng'an many times to escort Yang Sheng'an on the Yanma Ancient Road into Yunnan. After passing through Luohan Forest and crossing Sikou Pond, Yang Sheng'an had the following words: "You are now on a boat and staying in Yuji, and I am staying in Chizen House in the sorrowful forest." During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Luohan Forest was one of the most important places in southern Sichuan. The official road leading out of Sichuan and into Yunnan was crowded with merchants and bustling with activity.

Sichuan salt enters Yunnan, and the salt from Jiazhou and Gongjing is transported to Yongning Mansion. The upper bridge and the lower bridge are covered bridges, where the boatmen rest. When the ship arrived in the Lianghe area, the mountains were dangerous and the roads were like sheep's intestines. Boats and carts were impassable, and people had to carry their horses on their backs, creating salt gangs. Lianghe Town is the starting point, along the ancient official road of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, passing through Luohanlin Sankoutang, the top of Luzhou, and straight down to the border of Yunnan. The Luohan Forest at the top of Luzhou still retains the ruins of the Yanma Ancient Road (the traces left by the Yanma Ancient Road can still be vaguely seen on the ancient road). Now, based on the ruins of the Yanma Ancient Road, a 38-kilometer cultural trail has been built to fully demonstrate the cultural heritage of Luohan Forest.

On February 18, 1935, in accordance with the spirit of the Tashi Conference, the Central Red Army separated a team of more than 400 people and merged with the Xuyong Special Zone guerrillas. A total of more than 600 people were stationed in Luohanlin for about ten years. The Red Army's Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Column was established in Wulongshan Temple. This Red Army unit used the Sichuan-Yunnan border as its base to carry out guerrilla operations. There are battle relics in Zhujiashan and a large number of Red Army slogans in the Mugedao Miao Village. Due to the topography and ecological advantages of Luohan Forest, the guerrilla columns in southern Sichuan have been active in the Luohan Forest area for a long time and launched guerrilla operations against the enemy.

Luohan Forest at the top of Luzhou has many stories, such as the May 7th Cadre School, the educated youth going to the countryside, the gas mine in southern Sichuan, Shiluo Shigu, etc.
