Geology
Huining is located at the junction of the Loess Plateau and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the northwest. The land structure is complex, mostly based on metamorphic rocks and granite, with extensive sedimentation on it. Tertiary red beds and Quaternary loess, with limestone, Jurassic and Cretaceous strata exposed in some areas.
[11]
Landform
The entire terrain of Huining slopes from southeast to northwest, with undulating hills and crisscrossing ravines.
With the Zuli River as its backbone, the county is dotted with dendritic ravines and "V"-shaped deep valleys.
< p> On average, there are 1.07 kilometers of ravines per square kilometer of land.Generally, it is higher in the south and lower in the north. There are mountains and peaks with an altitude of 2,200 meters in the northeast corner and the central and western parts. The south and central parts are mountainous, mostly composed of loess accumulation and erosion of Changliang and Liangmao landforms; the north are mostly Sichuan and plateau landforms, which are valley terraces cut by the remaining plateaus on the top of Liangmao and rivers.
The landforms can be roughly divided into:
Landforms of Huining County
(1) Changliang and Liangmao landforms eroded by loess accumulation
This landform is widely distributed in the county. .
The beams are in the shape of long strips with not wide tops, long slope beams, and large slopes with a slope of 15-25 degrees. Most of them are cut by modern trough-shaped gullies, with the head of the ditch being a "palm ground" and a "palm" in the middle. A few of them have intermountain basin landforms.
In areas with severe erosion, beams and hills coexist. The tops of the hills are not large, and the surrounding slopes are about 10 degrees.
The beams are connected to each other. Long, deep valleys, thick loess accumulation
(2) Loess accumulation eroded the remaining plateau landforms on the top of Liangmao
This landform is distributed in the Zuli River and the northern part of the county. On both sides of the Guanchuan River, there are eight typical hilltop remnants of the Baicao Plateau, Zhazi Plateau, and Lijia Plateau, with an altitude of 1,700-2,200 meters. The slope of the plateau is gentle, generally between 5 and 10 degrees.
The cut from the plateau edge to the valley bottom is deep, the slope is high and steep, the plateau is plateau, and the valley is gully and dam land.
(3) Valley plateau landform.
This landform is distributed on both sides of the Zuli River and its tributaries Zuhe, Lihe, Guanchuan River, and Tumenxian River. It is a three-level valley terrace with different widths, lengths, and heights, shaped like branches. It is embedded in the Liangmao hills.
The altitude is 1400-1800 meters.
The seven rivers including Guochengchuan, Chengchuan and Gangouchuan are typical valley plains, 1-3 meters above the river bed. The first-level terrace 10 to 30 meters above the river beach is the river beach, which is several meters to hundreds of meters wide and is a flood drainage area; the second-level terrace 10-30 meters above the river beach is the river bank, which is flat and has a width of several hundred meters to 3 kilometers; it is higher than the river bank. The three-level terraces of 10-30 meters are flat terraces, which are intermittently distributed on both sides of the river road.
The terraces are mostly composed of fourth-level alluvial and diluvial deposits. The loess layer is thick and the soil quality is good.

The domestic mineral water passed the national appraisal in 1991 and reached the limit index value (GB8537-87).
The annual gushing volume of this mineral water is 70,000 tons, and the annual gushing volume of one area that has been developed and utilized is 30,000 tons. The resource potential is large.
