One of Qiqihar's Intangible Cultural Heritage: Cui Shi Paper-cut

Intangible culture is the precious culture of China. A nation, a country, only has its own culture, will have a unique taste. Intangible culture creates fun and enriches people's lives. Cui Shi paper-cut is a very artistic culture in Qiqihar culture.

Cui Shi paper-cut is the traditional art and culture of the Han nationality in Heilongjiang Province. In 2008, according to the final evaluation of Qiqihar Intangible Cultural Heritage Expert Group, Heilongjiang 19 representative intangible cultural heritage protection projects were selected into the first batch of intangible cultural heritage protection list in Qiqihar, including Cui Shi paper-cutting. 20 13 June, Cui Shi paper-cut was listed in the fourth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage list by Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government.

Cui Yuzhen, female, 1926, from Linyi County, Shandong Province, Han nationality. From the age of seven or eight, influenced by my grandmother and mother, I began to cut paper. After decades of practical exploration, I have developed and innovated the folk paper-cutting skills and techniques, and gradually formed my own unique paper-cutting artistic style. His works can be divided into four categories: celebration, animals, flowers and plants, and figures. The symmetry and folding techniques of folk paper-cutting have been highlighted in his works.

Cui Yuzhen is a member of China Paper-cut Society, director of China Folk Paper-cut Research Association, head of Heilongjiang Paper-cut Group and director of Qiqihar Paper-cut Research Association. Over the years, his paper-cut works have won many awards in national, provincial and municipal paper-cut exhibitions and competitions. Starting from 1978, she took the lead in putting festive paper-cut artworks on the domestic market in batches and selling them abroad, thus opening up the road of commercial paper-cutting.
