Lida's Seal

There is a stone sculpture in the square in front of the Sports and Arts Center on Changwu Road Campus. Many people stopped to take a closer look. This is a Chinese seal. The seal is engraved with the word "Lida". It is carved with Yangwen seal and the background color is bright Chinese red. Both sides of the seal are engraved with text and decorated with patterns. One is a quotation from the Analects of Confucius, and the other is a quotation from the linguist Lu Shuxiang. The text is in cyan. The primary colors of red, cyan and stone complement each other, and the entire seal has a simple shape, creating a strong cultural atmosphere. The sculpture "Lida's Seal" was created by Shen Jianguo, a famous sculptor in Suzhou. The "Seal of Lida" is inscribed with the word "Lida" in seal script and is the work of Pan Feng, a seal engraver from the Wu family. This is the name of the school and the core connotation of the school motto. On the left side of "Lida's Seal" is engraved "If you want to establish yourself, you can establish others; if you want to reach yourself, you can help others." It is recorded from "The Analects of Confucius" and is the origin of the name "Lida" of our school. The calligraphy has appropriate weight, alternating shades and light, and flows freely. The work was written by Suzhou calligrapher and painter Lao Si. "Lida" has profound cultural origins because it originated from "The Analects of Confucius". The right side of "Lida's Seal" is engraved with an inscription by Lu Shuxiang, a famous Chinese linguist. Lu Shuxiang once taught at Suzhou Middle School in Jiangsu Province. To this day, the Suzhou Middle School Library uses this sentence as its motto. Lida Middle School also quoted this slogan when it moved to the New Bridge Lane campus and built a library. Today, this sentence follows Rieter teachers and students at the new campus on Changwu Road. This is the motto of scholars and the fine tradition of Suzhou Middle School. It shows the continuity of the educational ideas of Suzhou Middle School and Lida.
