Where is Dongping Town, Chongming District, Shanghai?

Dongping Town Center is located in the middle of the northern edge of Chongming, adjacent to the famous Chongming Dongping National Forest Park, Genbao Football Base and Beihu Ecological Sightseeing Resort. Dongping is named after Dongping Forest Farm, which is now Dongping National Forest Park and national 4A tourist attraction. The area under the jurisdiction of the township includes four Chongming state-owned farms, Dongfeng, Changjiang, Qianjin and Sentinel, with a total area of 1 19.7 square kilometers. More than 8000 registered residents/kloc-0, all of whom are residents. Shanghai has a floating population of more than 7,000, and the whole town has a population of more than 25,000. There are six neighborhood committees in the town: Changjiang Village, Guilin Village, Qianjin Village, Outpost Village, Dongfeng Village and Fengwei Village. State-owned enterprises in the town include Bright Food Group Shanghai Changjiang Corporation, Bright Rice Industry Changjiang Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd., No.1 Milk Production Management Department of Shanghai Milk (Group) Co., Ltd., Lefei Shanghai Deco Electronic Instrument Co., Ltd., Shanghai Health Vocational and Technical College, etc. There are more than 100 industrial enterprises and new economic organizations in the town.

After the establishment of the new town, Dongping Town changed from the original farm community management mode to the government integrated management mode, which brought a series of new development topics to the party Committee and government of the new town. How to walk out of a scientific and sustainable new town development road and explore a development model that conforms to the development reality of Dongping Town and has Dongping development characteristics? After investigation and thinking, the town party committee and government, on the basis of listening to opinions from all sides and synthesizing various factors, closely focused on the overall strategic deployment of Chongming County's ecological island construction, combined with the characteristics of farm communities, determined the ecological town according to the requirements of the town's modern agricultural industry positioning on the ecological environment and the public demand of residents to create a clean, beautiful and safe environment. On this basis, the Party committee and government put forward the working concept of "service, management and development". At the first meeting and the first people's congress, the establishment of an ecological town was determined. At the second meeting and the first session of the National People's Congress, the Party Committee and government formulated the first three-year action plan of Dongping Town's ecological construction (2009-201year), and launched a new urban development measure with "one goal, five major creations" as the carrier.

Since its establishment, through the joint efforts of the whole town people, it has successively won the honorary titles of National Health Town, National Community Education Demonstration Town, Shanghai Civilized Town, Shanghai Healthy Advanced Community, Shanghai Ping 'an Demonstration Community, Shanghai Ping 'an Street, Shanghai Harmonious Construction Demonstration Street, Shanghai Food Safety Demonstration Street and Shanghai Learning Town.

On July 29th, 2020, Dongping Town was reconfirmed as a national health township (county) in patriotic health campaign committee.
