In the Five Dynasties, Binzhou was established. "Taiping Huanyu Ji": "Binzhou governs Bohai County, named after being on the coast of the Bohai Sea." Binxian County was established in 1913. Binzhou City was established in 1982. In 2000, it was renamed Bincheng District.
