Re-examination results of China Insurance Research Institute
Wen Peng Suping
After being involved in the "collision door" for nearly a year, Passat finally ushered in the opportunity to turn over.
On February 2nd, 65438 China Insurance Automobile Safety Index (hereinafter referred to as "C-IASI") was launched in official website, and the results showed that many indicators were improved.
Specifically, the "occupant safety index" rose from the original M (general) to G (excellent), and the overall evaluation grade of the key item-"frontal 25% offset collision" also rose from the original P (poor) to G (excellent).
65438+ On February 23rd last year, C-IASI released the evaluation results of Passat. Passat got the worst "P (poor)" in the "frontal 25% offset collision" project, ranking the bottom among the 4 1 models tested.
This has brought great pressure to this hot-selling model of SAIC Volkswagen. At that time, many voices pointed out that the crash test exposed serious safety problems, which was "intolerable" for a B-class car with huge sales volume like Passat.
Public opinion continued to ferment, giving Passat a heavy blow. Later, in the middle of June of 5438+ 10, SAIC- Volkswagen conducted a second test on Passat in order to save its image, but the test organization and test items were changed, which had the opposite effect.
Since then, Passat's sales have continued to decline, without the glory of the past. On April 20th this year, the 2020 Passat went on the market, but the trend is hard to collect-data show that since May this year, the average monthly sales volume of Passat has been about 65,438+0.65,438+0.00 million, which is only 70% of the average monthly sales volume last year.
C-IASI's second test drive of the new Passat was largely a "self-help" action by SAIC Volkswagen.
According to the data, Passat is the only one of the five models to announce the results. On the day of the release of the results, SAIC Volkswagen also quickly released relevant posters to promote the safety of being "double certified".
This round of "self-help" of SAIC Volkswagen has reached the final stage. It is worth mentioning that C-IASI made its debut after half a year's silence.
In June this year, C-IASI also fell into a crisis of confidence because the results given in the crash test of Guangqi Honda Hao Ying model could not convince the public, and then made an "unreasonable" explanation. In order to calm the impact, the index has not released vehicle test results for half a year.
On February 2, 65438, the relevant parties released the data of five models, including Passat and Hao Ying, and held a press conference in Beijing to respond to previous queries. The results show that Hao Ying's achievements are consistent with the previous "leak", and one of the producers of C-IASI, Zhongbaoyan, told the media that the response at that time exposed its internal process problems and will be optimized in the future.
The new Passat passed the "straight A"
According to the evaluation results released by C-IASI, the 2020 Passat won "all excellent" in terms of occupant safety, G (excellent) in terms of side impact and roof strength, and G (excellent) in terms of "frontal 25% offset collision" which caused great controversy before.
As an important index to measure the occupant safety index, "frontal 25% offset collision" simulates the common small-area collision in fatal car accidents, and the overall evaluation is the body structure and quality level. In last year's evaluation, Passat's performance was that at the moment of collision, the A-pillar broke directly, and the left front wheel invaded the cockpit, while the airbag in front of the driver's seat quickly flashed aside after opening, and the dummy's head in the driver's seat hit the steering wheel.
This basically means "the car crashed and the person died." At that time, an automobile engineer engaged in passive safety told think tank Jun that the bottom line principle was to ensure the inviolability of the passenger compartment with body stiffness. Once sheet metal parts invade the passenger compartment, airbags and seat belts are empty talk.
The "fragile" body makes Passat fall into crisis, especially the different performances of Chinese and foreign models on the same test project, which makes it face the accusation of "special car supply".
However, the performance of 2020 Passat is much better. According to the pictures and videos released by C-IASI, the front body of Passat was damaged, but the A-pillar was not broken, the cockpit was basically intact, the airbag popped up, and the dummy was sitting intact.
Has the public relations problem been solved?
Can the latest collision result reshape Passat's image? I'm afraid it will take time to verify this question.
However, judging from the handling of corporate crisis public relations, SAIC Volkswagen has basically completed a complete process-from the initial "no response" to "saving the country by curve", to the final active inspection, coupled with the launch of new models, it is not impossible for Passat to regain the favor of consumers.
"Where you fall, you get up." After all, SAIC Volkswagen chose this simplest and most useful road.
Earlier, some critics pointed out that Passat wanted to save people's hearts, and it was useless to test C-NCAP. C-iasi can only be tested again-the timing of testing is also very important, and it is best to test it in combination with product upgrade, which is tantamount to telling consumers that I have changed a generation and got rid of the previous problems.
C-NCAP is a new automobile evaluation regulation in China. Both C-IASI and C-NCAP are vehicle inspection indexes, but their properties and inspection contents are different. As a result, SAIC Volkswagen tried to regain trust through the test results of C-NCAP, but it backfired.
In the middle of 5438+ 10 this year, C-NCAP announced that Passat would conduct a crash test-obviously, Passat wanted to prove his innocence through the second test. However, this was ridiculed by the whole network. Some netizens pointedly pointed out, "I failed in the primary school exam. What should I do if I score 100?"
The reasons are as follows: First, the collision test items of C-IASI are different. C-NCAP uses frontal 25% offset collision, while C-NCAP uses frontal 40% overlapping deformable barrier collision. The former has stricter standards; Second, the models tested by the two models are different. C-IASI uses Passat 20 19 280TSI Business Edition and 1.4T Entry-Level Model at the price of 184900, while C-NCAP tests Passat 20 19 330TSI Elite Edition and 2.0T Entry-Level Model at the price of 26550.
Nobody cares about the test results of C-NCAP. SAIC-Volkswagen also realized this, so after the new model went on the market, it was sent to C-IASI for inspection again to promote the safety of the new car with the test results.
In the poster released on February 2nd, 65438, SAIC Volkswagen wrote the slogan of "Double Certification Results, Double Excellence Highlighting the Background Color", emphasizing that it not only won a five-star safety rating in C-NCAP, but also won an excellent rating in all-round safety performance in C-IASI.
In fact, before the beginning of June 165438+ 10, the news that the new Passat had re-examined in C-IASI and achieved excellent results had spread in a small area.
IASI solved the crisis of trust
Although Passat completed the self-certification almost perfectly, it should be pointed out that the C-IASI index itself also fell into a crisis of confidence this year.
According to public information, C-IASI is an index jointly developed by insurance institute of china, China Automotive Engineering Research Institute and China Insurance Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as "China Insurance Research Institute"), which mainly serves insurance companies and provides technical support for underwriting claims. Because it is unprofitable and the evaluation method refers to the American Highway Safety Insurance Association, the evaluation result of C-IASI is considered to be highly credible, and it is also regarded as the "magic mirror" of automobile quality because of its "fame in World War I" in Passat crash test.
However, the "Oolong" incident that Hao Ying tested six months later cast a shadow over the neutrality of C-IASI.
On June 19, IASI released the crash test results of Guangqi Honda Hao Ying. After the accident, the A-pillar was obviously bent and the cockpit was invaded, but the C-IASI still gave the result of "A (good)", and the passenger safety index in the car was also rated as G (excellent), which caused public dissatisfaction.
At that time, some analysts said that Hao Ying achieved this result mainly because although she lost points in the vehicle structure, the damage to the dummy was not high. However, this explanation has not been widely recognized, and the subsequent response from relevant parties has pushed C-IASI to the forefront.
On June 20th, China Baoyan Automotive Technology Research and Testing Center (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Baoyan (Beijing)") issued a statement saying that the data was stolen, saying that "Hao Ying test data was released unofficially before, and C-IASI found that some data including Hao Ying safety test data were stolen and reported to the police."
China Insurance Research Institute (Beijing) is the publisher of C-IASI, but the above statement is not convincing, which has a negative impact on its relatively neutral image. In the following six months, C-IASI, which was questioned by public opinion, did not release the test results of any models.
Some analysts pointed out that there may be another reason why Hao Ying's achievements were withdrawn behind the complicated equity relationship of China Insurance Research Institute.
Kai Xinbao shows that Zhongcheng Automobile Insurance Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Guangzhou Automobile Group, established Shanghai Insurance Exchange Co., Ltd., and many insurance companies such as China People's Property Insurance Co., Ltd., in which the latter shares, are the founding shareholders of China Insurance Research.
In addition, Bao Zhong Research Institute (Beijing), which is responsible for the Hao Ying crash test of Guangqi Honda, was jointly funded by Bao Zhong Research Institute and China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Automotive Research Institute"). Insiders pointed out that although Bao Zhong Research Institute does not pursue the interests of automobile enterprises, the important source of income of China Automobile Research Institute is various technical service fees paid by automobile enterprises.
At that time, China Automotive Research Institute and related institutions did not give more explanations on Hao Ying's test, but only said that "official website will be inspected for safety and relevant data will be verified, and the test results of related models will be announced on a certain day."
This delay is half a year. Among the models whose test results were announced on February 2nd, 65438, besides Passat, Hao Ying was also included. Hao Ying's performance is consistent with the previously stolen performance data: the passenger safety index in the car is G (excellent), and 25% of offset collisions and side collisions are A (good).
According to the response of China Insurance Research Institute, the temporary link of audit status was stolen from the Hao Ying incident and then closed; The reason why I didn't speak for the next six months was mainly because the matter itself was hot and I didn't want to waste public resources because of it.
At the same time, China Baoyan also said that the Hao Ying incident exposed its internal process problems. At that time, Hao Ying's scores should be released after the incident, and the stolen information should be answered directly, instead of just saying that the information was stolen. It is said that in the future, China Insurance Research Institute will optimize internal process specifications.
