Essay: Memory of wooden doors
There is a small town in my hometown called Mumen. As far back as I can remember, I know that it was not named by this name originally, but called Dongfan. Based on the homophony, some people teased her into two. My kids are tired of fighting. The small town has the largest and most famous rural independent junior high school in the county, Dongfan Middle School. The middle school has always been called this name, and the name of the middle school was not changed due to the abolition of Dongfan District.
To be honest, maybe like other mountainous towns, the town is actually very small due to terrain conditions. She nests in a trough area surrounded by mountains. To the north is Lizhaizui, to the south is Qinglongzhai, to the southwest is Danqingliang, to the northwest is Shijialiang, and to the east is Shuanggui Mountain. It has been called Wuma since ancient times. The place of running trough. I think if China's Yangtze River flows through it, there will never be a place for small towns.
The geographical location of the town is very special, with three rivers intersecting here. In the center of Zhushi Heba, it is said that there are three counties with one foot. In the early years of the Republic of China, the three counties of Guangnan and Basin all established regiment areas and school districts: the United Youth League Defense Bureau (the masses ridiculed as the three regiments in one street) and the Guangzhou, Nan and Ba Lian Mumen Higher Primary Schools.
The houses in the town were built close to each other along the river. Ninety-nine out of ten houses were originally made of wood. There are still many such houses in the old streets. The water in the river has been flowing all year round, and I have never studied where it ended up. Because of the abrupt surrounding mountains, heavy rains in summer cause all the floods from the mountains to pour into the river, sometimes submerging the entire old street. The old street has been flooded countless times. When the water recedes, people clean up the mud and debris inside and outside their houses and on the streets, and start living in the town again.
Drone aerial photography of the town, a bird's-eye view of the town, a clear river running through it, surrounded by mountains, lush green pines and cypresses, and dotted farmland, the town seems to be in a paradise isolated from the world. The town is really beautiful.
The town has a history of many years. During the period of Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty (AD 525), Mumen County was established. In the first year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618), Jingzhou was established. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Dongfan District Office was established. On August 7, 1986, the district was demolished and a town was built.
Because the town is located at the junction of three counties, it has always been a battleground for military strategists. Here, there used to be fierce battles and fierce battles. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang used a plan, Wei Yan lured troops, Zhang Fei set up an ambush, and thousands of crossbows fired, killing Wei general Zhang He and more than a hundred generals at the wooden gate. The small places in the north of the town are now named Sheheping and Rocket Valley, and the Yanzhan Street at the mouth of the river has been used since the Three Kingdoms to this day, as evidenced by this. Wei and Shu fought fierce battles at Mumen many times, including Zhang Fei Stone in Xingya Village (it is said that Zhang Fei and Zhang He were duel on this stone, Zhang Fei once stood on this stone), Desheng Mountain opposite Mumen Temple, and Hongshitan Beach in the direction of Changzhen not far from the mouth of Lianghe. (Legend has it that the blood of soldiers turned the stones in the river red), which is also evidence. It was an ancient battlefield in the Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties.
In 1933, the Fourth Red Army withdrew westward from Tong (Jiang) Nan (Jiang) Ba (Zhong) and stayed in Mumen for more than a year, fighting fierce battles with warlords several times their own. On June 28, 1933, the Mumen Conference, a famous military meeting in history, was held in Mumen Temple. More than 100 people attended the meeting, including Zhang Guotao, Chen Changhao, Xu Xiangqian, Wang Shusheng, and Li Xiannian. The significance of the Mumen Conference is second only to the Zunyi Conference. The Mumen Temple, now rebuilt on its original site, is located halfway up Qinglong Mountain. At the east end of the old street, there is a chastity archway built in the 27th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. On it are engraved 16 propaganda slogans of the Red Army. The words "Reduce the whole Sichuan" and "Dictatorship of workers and peasants" are very eye-catching. The inscription on the archway is "Northwestern Revolution". Military Commission, Political Department of the Red Thirty Army.
Mumen Temple also has the story of the talented woman and crown princess Shangguan Wan'er of the Tang Dynasty and the prince Li Xian. In 684 AD, Shangguan Wan'er went to Bazhou to visit Li Xian. When she came here, she heard that the prince had been murdered, so she built a pavilion on the scripture drying stone next to Mumen Temple where Li Xian had turned over the scriptures, and inscribed on it the words "rice granary qing qing rice granary" Blue, the setting sun is like complaining and crying. The melons and vines are lush and the melons are in decline, unlike the poems written in the past when I was in Fang, in memory of Prince Li Xian. It can be seen from Shangguan Wan'er's poem that Li Xian's fate is sad.
Before liberation, Mumen was a land of disputes. At that time, several groups of bandits around Mumen were eyeing Mumen. Wu Zhishan, the bandit leader from Shuanggui Mountain to Shuanghe, and the bandit leader who occupied Qinglong Village Yu Haiqing, the bandit leader Deng Yanqing who controlled the area from Danqingliang to Hualongya, the bandit He Yuxian from Jiaochangba, and the bandit Sun Deqing from Shimachang all had guns in their hands. Mumenchang is unbearable. According to the old man, bandits murder, set fires, rob, and do almost anything.
Of course, there are many unknown stories in the town, tragic, desolate, miserable, exciting...all gone with the flow of the river.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the town was very lively. Mumenchang is the agricultural trading center of Nanjiang Heping, Shuanggui, Jiuding, Wangcang Nongjian, Hualong, Jiulong, Cangxi Huilong, Huangmao and other places. On market days, the town is crowded with people. From the upper streets to the lower streets, and from the lower streets to the upper streets, the word "crowd" has to be used. Farming tools produced by Tieniu Society in Zhongjie include hoes, sickles, bamboo hats, dustpans, bamboo baskets, bamboo fans, cloth, and daily necessities in the store... They are traditional and luxurious, all from that era. symbol. In particular, the old people's market and the market tax collector with a loudspeaker left a very deep impression on people born before the 1980s. There are rice, wheat, tobacco leaves, sweet potatoes, potatoes, bacon... all kinds of things in the people's market, including hawkers, bargainers, and people talking to each other... It's much better than in today's cities. The night market is still lively and lively. The father of my elementary school classmate was a rice dealer. He made a fortune in the rice business and was one of the few households worth ten thousand yuan in the early days.
In addition to the large number of people and brisk business in the market, the restaurants are also very busy from morning to night. Speaking of restaurant owner Liu Fafu, everyone knows about him. People who rush to the event early will crowd into the restaurants on the street to have breakfast. People who go home late from the event will also squeeze into the restaurant to have a meal if they are not stingy, and even drink two ounces of white wine. Going out to a restaurant and having a toothpaste ceremony are common but unusual things for the peasant brothers who have a lot of money but a little money. Mumen glutinous rice glutinous rice, Dongfan stewed vegetables, rice dumplings, Dongfan steamed buns, flower rolls, and twists are all famous foods of Mumen. They are delicacies for children and adults. Mentioning these now makes me drool. On a hot day, add Mumen glutinous rice wine to cold well water and drink it in a gulp, which is a good word. Opposite the department store, there is a lonely old woman named Li Shuxiang who sells preserved eggs, which enjoys a good reputation throughout the country. There was a monk named Wang who lived in a section of Mumen Street. He was a clean and kind person. Every time he went to market, he would provide boiled water and herbal tea to farmers for free. He did this for decades without interruption. In the winter of 2001, he died at the age of 89.
Wumen’s fireworks, suona, lion dance and yangko are famous in the county. During the Spring Festival, playing with fireworks and lighting firecrackers are the favorite things for children. It is also the interest and fun of many people to watch dragon and lion dance performances on the streets on the first day of the first lunar month.
My middle school life was spent in Mumen. Dongfan Middle School was built in the Sun family cemetery in the northern suburbs of Changzhen, next to a narrow road in the back street of Changzhen. At that time, I went down to the river to take a bath with my classmates. Once when the water came out, I fell on my back and washed away on the beach. I was almost washed away by the flood. I remember taking spring outings in Shuanggui Mountain and Qinglong Mountain. I have been craving for the Hanamaki, steamed buns, and pancakes on the flat iron pot on the street, and I have walked in the supply and marketing cooperative, Tieniu cooperative, grain station, pig market, river dam, and bamboo market. But these, after they completed their historical mission, have now disappeared. . The grain station house is still there, and it probably only serves as a grain storage function. The district cultural office and district office no longer exist. It is said that there are four temples in Mumenchang: Yuwen Palace (today’s primary school staff dormitory), Wanshou Palace (today’s market), Wenchang Palace (today’s grain station), and Guandi Temple (today’s Xinjiekou). There are no traces of the ruins in ancient times. Found.
Mumenchang condenses history and reflects all aspects of social life. In the current Mumen Market, the number of people rushing to the market on the street has been significantly reduced many years ago, and the number is much smaller. There are more newly built houses in and outside the streets, several large supermarkets have also been added, and the Guangba Expressway has also Passing through Changzhen...Mumenchang is changing bit by bit in the course of history...
