Not long ago, the teacher assigned us an assignment to investigate people’s correct use of the motherland’s language and write an investigation report.

When I got home in the evening, I immediately started investigating. Seeing my father's notebook on the bedside table, I opened it and read it carefully. In order not to miss any mistakes, I searched meticulously and attentively. Although Dad is an adult, he will inevitably make mistakes. I saw one sentence that read: Life has undergone earth-shaking changes. I said with some excitement: "Hey, Dad made a mistake too!" I ran to ask Dad to correct it. "Dad, you wrote a different word!" I shouted. "Which one?" Dad asked. "You wrote the word 'fu' in 'earth-shaking' wrong. It should not be 'fu', but 'fu'." I pointed to my father and told him his mistake. "Well - let me look it up in the dictionary." Dad took out the dictionary, and sure enough I was right. "'Earthshaking' means a huge and thorough change. I was wrong." Dad took out a pen and changed the other word. Dad said to me: "Xinxin, thank you for pointing out the mistakes to me. We are all Chinese. We should use the language and characters of the motherland correctly and not make mistakes in our mother tongue." "I will also check the information carefully in the future and master it." It’s good to have similar characters, but it’s easy to make typos, so don’t make mistakes in this regard,” I said to my dad with a smile.

After that, I found many typos, irregularly written words or sentences with grammatical errors in my homework books, exercise books and other books. I found my own shortcomings, analyzed the causes of errors, and wrote down improvement measures. I believe I can do better in the future.

Through this investigation, I have a deep feeling. I understand two points: first, if you find a mistake, you should correct it if you know it, learn with an open mind, and ask others for advice; second, we must be correct. Use Chinese characters and avoid typos, mispronunciations and other irregular use of characters.
