What is bsci certification?
In March 2003, FTA, a foreign trade association headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, formally established BSCI, an organization advocating corporate social responsibility, with the aim of formulating the implementation measures and procedures for European enterprises to comply with social responsibility plans. BSCI has attracted more than 300 members from 1 1 countries, most of whom are European retailers and buyers. They will actively promote their suppliers in various countries to accept BSCI certification to improve their human rights situation.
BSCI certification is applicable to all industries.
BSCI certification experts will analyze and evaluate whether the factory can pass the certification through five steps.
Step 1: Review and prepare.
Before the audit, each production site of the factory needs to fill out a self-assessment questionnaire to help auditors have a preliminary understanding of the factory. Then BSCI· Certification staff will send a list of audit documents. BSCI certification also needs a signed and sealed document, which includes the factory authorizing BSCI Certification staff to take photos on the spot, interview employees and input the audit results into the database to share with other members.
Step 2: On-site audit
After the audit preparation, BSCI· Certification staff will visit the factory for audit. BSCI certification needs to determine whether the work conforms to the guidelines of BSCI code of conduct and check whether there are any parts that do not fully meet the requirements of SA8000 social management standards. BSCI Certification staff will first hold a mobilization meeting to explain the audit objectives and procedures. Afterwards, experts from BSCI Certification staff will start on-site audit, including inspecting production lines, staff dormitories and restaurants, interviewing supervisors and staff, and reviewing documents. After the audit, a summary meeting will be held again.
Step 3: Register and enter the BSCI system.
After the audit, the factory will receive an English audit report containing the audit results. The audit results will be uploaded to the BSCI database so that other members can also see the audit records.
Step 4: Update the certification.
If any nonconformity or improvement requirements are found in the audit, it is necessary for the factory to take corrective measures as soon as possible. After that, BSCI Certification staff will go to the factory for re-inspection to ensure that BSCI Certification staff has completed effective improvement. Certification staff will upload the re-audit results to BSCI database.
Step 5: Certificate Renewal Review
BSCI verification applied by the factory is valid for 2 years. After the renewal of the certificate, the validity of the certificate will be extended for another 2 years.
