World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) is on June 6th every year.

In order to encourage more people to donate blood for free, publicize and promote the implementation of the global blood safety plan, the World Health Organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Federation of Blood Donation Organizations and the International Blood Transfusion Association designated June 14, 2004 as the first World Blood Donor Day.

The theme of World Blood Donor Day in 2022 is "Blood donation is an act of solidarity. Join us to save lives "(blood donation is a firm act. Join the effort to save lives). The 2022 Global Games will be held in Mexico City, Mexico on June 14, 2022.

The purpose of setting up this festival is:

(1) Raise global awareness of the demand for safe blood and blood products for blood transfusion.

(2) Emphasize the important contribution of unpaid blood donors to the national health system.

(3) Support national blood transfusion service agencies, blood donors' organizations and other non-governmental organizations to strengthen and expand their voluntary blood donation programs by strengthening national and local campaigns.
