The school was founded in 1978, formerly known as the fourth branch of Tianjin University, and offers undergraduate education based on Tianjin University. 1979 changed its name to Tianjin University Architectural Branch, 1987 changed its name to Tianjin Institute of Urban Construction, and in 20 13 it changed its name to Tianjin University of Urban Construction.
