How do you feel after reading Mo Yan's Frog?

When I got the book Frog, I read it intermittently under the covers for three consecutive nights.

It's really "I don't know if I don't see it, it's amazing at first sight." Famous works, dare not jump to conclusions, allow my class to teach axe and blind people to talk about their views. I think Mo Yan Zhi's Frog has at least the following five points:

First, the theme of the work is grand, but it has been neglected for a long time, and Mo Yan's vision is unique and refreshing.

The Story of Frog is mainly about family planning in rural areas of China. Family planning has been an important policy in China since 1960s, especially in 1970s and 1980s. I remember when I was a child, I often saw slogans such as "Whoever has super life will be ruined" on some walls. The tragic degree can be imagined, and we have also heard and witnessed some blood and tears stories about family planning. At that time, we didn't know what ligation and ring were about. All I know is that those who get married and have children must be ligated and put on the ring; Those who have more children in violation of family planning are often fined several times or even dozens of times their annual income by the government, and at the same time forced to ligate Sheung Wan; Those who can't make ends meet and have no money to pay the fine will be forced to be ligated and put on a ring first. At the same time, township cadres drive away their cattle and sheep, drive away their fat pigs, and even tear down their houses and bring them into "study classes." Due to family planning, many tragicomedy and comedies are staged in rural areas of China.

Family planning should be an important historical event in modern China. Such a good theme, such a good material, but I never thought of writing a story of 300-500 words with it, and even chatting with people never remembered talking about it. Not only I, but also many writers who make a living by writing have few works about family planning.

In my opinion, Frog is the first serious work about family planning in China that I came into contact with, and the other serious work is the cross talk Super Guerrilla, which is well known to women and children. In addition, I really know little about this work, maybe I have never paid attention to it, and I don't know at all. It is really unique and refreshing that Mr. Mo Yan can take family planning as his creative theme without anyone realizing it. Therefore, it is not surprising that his frog can lead the way.

Second, the genre of the work is novel, which is a trinity of letters, novels and dramas.

In my opinion, the letters in Frog are actually unnecessary. But why Mr. Mo added letters naturally has his reasons. Look at these letters. They are all written to a Japanese named Sugiyama Yoshiji (also known as Ant Man in the Valley). At the beginning of the first letter, I mentioned Sugiyama Yoshiki's long report on literature and life. Perhaps the title of this report became the beginning of writing this work. Secondly, why are these letters addressed to Japanese, not Americans, Britons or Indians? From the following letters and stories, I realize that this Japanese is both a foreshadowing and a foreshadowing, because the story involves Sugiyama, the father of the righteous, a commander of the Japanese invaders, which makes the story more dramatic. Third, Mr. Mo expressed his humility through letters. The contents of the letter mentioned the guidance and encouragement given by the upright Sugiyama many times, and its intention also reflected the author's cautious attitude towards the theme of the work, namely: Why don't so many writers write about China's family planning?

The novel story is derived from the letter, and the nine-act drama is involved from the novel story. This writing is incredible, but it is ingenious and interlocking. In his letter, the protagonist repeatedly mentioned that he wanted to create a play for the righteous in Sugiyama, and at the same time repeatedly explained why he wanted to write this play. The reason why he didn't write plays became the main narrative of the novel, which was the story about his aunt and family planning. These reasons are all finished, and the story is all finished. I swear that this drama can be formally created. In fact, that drama repeats the story of aunt and family planning in a new narrative form and way, but it seems that there is no repetition at all. This is the beauty of Teacher Mo!

I think the biggest advantage of this drama is that it consolidates the impression of the novel story and achieves the unforgettable effect. Without this drama, many people will forget and forget what the novel really says.

Third, the title and name of the book are novel and grotesque, closely following the theme service, and achieving the effect of strengthening the theme.

When I saw the title of Frog, many people, including me, thought it was about frogs, but after reading the story, I realized that this guess was all wet. If it's about family planning, why not use "ants" as the topic? Life is like an ant. There are too many people like ants. We really need to control fertility. But after reading this novel, I have to admire the beauty of the topic "Frog". Not only accurate, but also meaningful. Because frogs are transformed from tadpoles, and tadpoles are very similar to human sperm under the microscope, it is said that they are also similar to the shape of human embryos in the early stage of development, and frogs have very strong reproductive ability, which is a strong argument in support of family planning. At the same time, I think the shorter the name, the more people can be inspired to explore. With the frog's cry, Teacher Mo's goal was achieved.

Look at the characters in the story. Except that the protagonist's name is tadpole, 95% of the names are related to human organs, such as Chen Bi, Xiao Upper Lip, Xiao Lower Lip, Wan Xin, military attache, Yuan Gill, Wang Dan, Li Shou, Wang Jiao, Hao Dashou and so on. These names with human organs give people the impression that the body is horizontal and there are people everywhere. At the same time, a large number of clay dolls made by folk craftsmen Qin He and Hao Dashou, as well as frogs and tadpoles in Yuanji bullfrog farm, give people the impression that there are so many people everywhere that you can't breathe, further strengthening the theme of overcrowding.

Throughout the whole article, the author took pains from the theme, genre, plot, conception, and even the names and titles of the characters. These characters have distinct personalities, influence each other, cross each other, are entangled among people, and the story is intertwined, forming a crowded and diverse picture. The novel doesn't say "how good family planning is", but through these stories and scenes, you have a strong feeling that family planning is difficult to do and family planning must be done, which makes people stunned!

Fourth, contradictions and conflicts are ups and downs, and the story is full of drama and strong sense of reality.

Although Frog only talks about family planning in ordinary villages, there is no grand occasion, but the contradictions and conflicts in it are complicated and dazzling. If you look closely, everyone in the story seems to be a mixture of contradictions except the contradiction between characters and events, fertility and super-life. For example, my aunt is the daughter of an anti-Japanese military doctor and a heroic anti-Japanese hero. After liberation, she became a gynecologist who was deeply loved by everyone and devoted to delivering babies, and was deified as a very sacred "God to send children". But this "Songzi Niangniang" later became a propagandist of family planning, specializing in induced labor, ligation, punishing super-life, and cracking down on drag out an ignoble existence. The original main business of midwifery has become a sideline, and the original aura of "Songzi Niangniang" has become a "killer" of infanticide. The original anti-Japanese hero became a spy, spy and counter-revolutionary because his lover defected, and the original respected treatment fell to a situation where people hated and even chased him everywhere. More paradoxically, the aunts and lions who specialize in midwifery and family planning have lost their fertility. My aunt and little lion, who devoted their lives to family planning, actually supported super life in their later years. The little lion even secretly spent 50 thousand yuan to find disfigured Chen Mei to surrogate for himself.

Speaking of Chen Mei, she is the most tragic character in the whole story. Chen Mei, the daughter of Chen Bi, has a beautiful appearance and should have a very bright future. But she refused to rely on beauty and insisted on eating by physical strength. As a result, she was burned beyond recognition by a fire in the factory and became a mysterious masked madman. She was lobbied by the county government across the Republic of China and lost the lawsuit of surrogacy. Chen Mei's father, Chen Biben, is the first millionaire in the village and a nouveau riche with strong viability. After many twists and turns, he became a beggar who was spurned in his later years. And that little woman, Wang Dan, in order to drag out an ignoble existence, actually adopted authentic tactics against the Japanese aggressors, which made people lament the greatness of her mother and felt pity for her.

Contradictions and conflicts are the soul of the novel, and it is the mission of the novel to reflect real life through contradictions and conflicts. All the contradictions and conflicts in Frog are inevitable under the background of the times. People who have experienced that era and experienced real social life will feel immersive, feel that the people in the story are the people around them, even themselves, and feel that those contradictions and conflicts are objective and those character events are objective and true. The complexity and dramatization of characters' contradictions fully embodies Mr. Mo's ability to create and control contradictions and conflicts, and the contradiction deduction technology has reached a perfect level.

Fifth, the language is simple and vulgar, but it is easy to understand and fascinating.

Frog tells the story of Northeast Township in Gaomi, Shandong Province. The narrative language of the story is basically rural slang, simple vernacular and dialect in northern China. From a certain point of view, Putonghua can be said to be a language based on the northeast dialects of Beijing and China, so the northern dialect itself can also be regarded as a part of Putonghua. In the context of Putonghua, the northern dialect has a strong appeal, which is also the main reason for the popularity of Zhao Benshan crosstalk and Northeast Erren Zhuan.

In my opinion, it is very appropriate for Frog to tell family planning stories involving the broad masses of peasants and ordinary people in the narrative way of rural dialects. It is precisely because it is full of thought, personality, local flavor, national flavor, and the text is extensive and in line with human nature, but it is also smooth in narrative, delicate in expression and vivid in plot, so it is easier to understand and more expressive. Many local characters are well written and fascinating.

In a word, writers speak by their works. Just a "Frog" has fully reflected Mo Yan's literary attainments, and let us hear a "wow". Therefore, Mo Yan's winning the Nobel Prize can be said to be deserved, and Mo Yan's winning the Nobel Prize can be said to be the recognition of China literature by the people of the earth. This is a fact, and it is also the most direct feeling of our readers.
