In 1952, after Anqing City was promoted to a provincial city, districts were merged and Jixian District was changed to Chengzhong District.

In March 1955, Chengzhong District was abolished and based on the 4 townships it belonged to and the 7 townships of Shilipu, Jixian, Xiaokeng, Guqiao, Bei'an, Zhuyuan and Wuli that were transferred from Huaining County. The suburbs of Anqing City were established.

In October 1957, Lianfa, Minzhong, and Datong Agricultural Cooperatives in Dadukou Town and Wangdun Township in Dongliu County (now Dongzhi County), and Yongqing and Shiqi Agricultural Cooperatives in Qingfeng Township Cooperatives, Zhenlian, Zhengrong, Xinting, Heyi, and United Agricultural Cooperatives in Dadukou Township were included in the suburbs of Anqing City.

At the end of 1958, the four townships of Shengbu, Mawo, Laofeng and Zheshan in Huaining County were included in the suburbs of Anqing City.

In June 1959, the suburbs were abolished and replaced by Jiangbei suburbs and Jiangnan suburbs.

In 1960, three people's communes, Shilipu, Guangwei and Dadukou, were established. Jiangbei Suburban District Office was merged into Guangwei Commune, and Jiangnan Suburban District Office was merged into Dadukou Commune.

The suburban construction was resumed in May 1962, and it co-located with the Municipal Agriculture, Forestry and Water Conservancy Bureau, and administered seven people's communes including Shilipu, Baizehu, Huazhong Road, Guangwei, Fishery, Dadukou and Jinjilong. .

In early 1969, the Anqing Agricultural Station Revolutionary Committee was established to perform suburban government functions. In September 1970, the Agricultural Station Revolutionary Committee was renamed the Suburban Revolutionary Committee.

At the end of 1979, the four communes of Xinzhou, Changfeng, Laofeng and Baizehu in Huaining County and the three brigades of Dongfeng, Xiangyang and Shaqiao of Zongpu Commune, Yangqiao and Huashan in Tongcheng County The three communes of Dafeng and Dafeng and the four brigades of Jiangjun, Lianxing, Hexing and Zongnan of Luotang Commune, as well as the water surfaces of Pogang Lake and Shitang Lake are placed in the suburbs of Anqing City.

In 1981, Dongfanghong Vegetable Commune merged with the Municipal Vegetable Company to form Anqing Vegetable United Corporation, and established the Longshiqiao office to assume the administrative functions of the original commune.

Before the zoning adjustment of Anqing City in 1988, the Suburban District Committee and the Anqing Municipal Agricultural Committee jointly worked together.
