Administrative divisions of Liwan District

As of June 5th+February, 2005, Liwan District had jurisdiction over 22 streets: Shamian Street, Lingnan Street, Hualin Street, Duobao Street, Changhua Street, Fengyuan Street, Jinlong Street, Jinhua Street, Rainbow Street, Nanyuan Street, Xicun Street, Zhanqian Street, Qiaozhong Street, Baihe East Street, Chongkou Street, Huadi Street and Shiweitang Street.

Liwan District is the central city of Guangzhou and the core functional area of an important national central city. Yuexiu District in the east, Baiyun District in the northwest and Nanhai District in Foshan City in the west. The land area is 59. 1 km2, and the land area is 62.4 km2. The historical evolution of Liwan District;

Historically, Liwan District is located outside the west gate of Fucheng, Guangzhou, commonly known as Xiguan. In the Ming Dynasty, it was already an important port for foreign trade and cultural exchange in China. In the Republic of China 10 (1922), Guangzhou Municipal Hall was established, and Xiguan District was subordinate to Guangzhou.

In 34 years (1946), Shamian Concession was recovered.

After the founding of New China, 1952 established the Western District, and 1960 changed its name to Liwan District in August. In 2002, the Guangzhou Municipal Government implemented the administrative division adjustment, and included the big beach sand island into Liwan District. In 2005, with the approval of the State Council, Fangcun District was placed under the jurisdiction of Liwan District.

Transportation: Liwan District, located in the west of Guangzhou, is the main entrance and exit connecting Foshan. The traffic network is criss-crossed: the expressway connecting the surrounding urban areas, such as the West Half Ring Road of the Inner Ring Road and the West Half Ring Road of the Ring Expressway, and the bridges and tunnels on both sides of the Pearl River, such as Pearl River Bridge, Ren Minqiao Bridge, Hedong Bridge, Dongsha Bridge, Pearl River Tunnel and Zhoutouzui Tunnel;
