Human geography of Kedu Town

There are four ethnic groups in Kedu Town: Han, Hui, Yi, and Miao. The Hui people celebrate Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Christmas; the Yi people celebrate Torch Festival, Beginning of Autumn, and The "Torch Festival" of the Black Yi people is the most grand, and the "Torch Festival" of the Black Yi people is just like the Spring Festival of the Han people; the "Beginning of Autumn Festival" of the Bai Yi people is the most grand. There were bullfights and cabaret performances, and they sang their hearts out.

The world-famous Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army passed through Kedu twice, which had a profound impact on the social transformation of Kedu. In October 1977, the provincial government established the Red Army Long March Memorial Hall in Dangui Village. In 1983, it was announced as a key cultural relic protection unit by the Yunnan Provincial Government. In 1992, it was listed as a modern history and national conditions education base by Kunming City. In 1997, it was named a patriotic education base by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government. Every year, tens of thousands of people come here to recall the revolutionary history of the Red Army’s Long March and the great achievements of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries.

The original name of Dangui is "Duodan", which in Yi language means a place with many magpies near Qing. In 1954, it was renamed "Dangui" and the settlement was shaped like a B. The Dangui Red Army Long March Memorial Hall commemorates that when the Red Army passed through this place on its Long March in 1935, Mao, Zhou, Zhu and other military commissions were stationed in this village and made specific arrangements for the plan to cross the Jinsha River. It was built in 1973. In January 1992, it was designated by the province as China’s modern national conditions education base. Access to asphalt road. Dangui Village has a historic mosque and the Yang Family Ancestral Hall. The Wood Carving Village Committee is located 15 kilometers east of Kedu Town. It is an administrative village where Yi and Han people live together. Legend has it that during the Qianlong period, Zeah Chopstick Tusi (Yi language) got married to Xinshabaite Tusi and Wu Tusi. Because the Baiwu family was short of water, the chieftain carved wood and wrote notes, sharing the water equally between the Baiwu family, hence the name. The village committee is located in Shangmuke Village. To the east of Shangmuke Village is Wanglu Mountain. During the Song Dynasty, it was the Liangwang camp, and you can still see the cornerstones of the camp.

Huihui Village, during the Ming Dynasty, the Hui people lived here, so it was named Kedu Huihui Village, and later evolved into Huihui Village. There is an ancient mosque and a Red Army slogan on the west wall, which is listed as a nationally protected cultural relic. In order to promote the national culture, a Sino-Arab school was built in this village in 1991, with one classroom, two teachers, and students every year. There is a waterfall in the north of Huihui Village called "Big Dishui", which cascades down from the top of a mountain more than 20 meters high. It is very spectacular. The small market town in this administrative village was rated as a civilized small town from 2006 to 2008.
