The School of Finance of Harbin University of Commerce developed from 1963 China Construction Bank's cadre training department, and has gone through infrastructure finance teaching and research section, infrastructure finance discipline, infrastructure economics department, investment economics department, investment finance department and finance department. The School of Finance was established in 2002.

The School of Finance now has four undergraduate majors: Finance, Financial Engineering, Investment and Insurance. Among them, the major of finance was transformed from the major of money and banking, and 1994 began to enroll students (renamed as 1998), the major of financial engineering began to enroll students in 2003, and the major of investment science began to enroll students in 20 10. The college now has four professional teaching and research sections (finance, financial engineering, investment and insurance), monetary research institute, financial engineering research institute, investment research institute and reference room. The national practice teaching demonstration base has advanced securities and futures laboratories and commercial bank laboratories, as well as currency museums and ticket museums with great influence at home and abroad.

The college currently has 0/700 undergraduate students and more than 200 graduate students. There are 53 full-time teachers, including 8 professors, 22 associate professors and 0/7 lecturers.
