Information of Haikou Crater Geopark

Haikou Shishan Volcanic Group National Geopark is located in Shishan Town in the west of Xiuying District, Haikou City, about 20 kilometers away from the downtown area of ??Haikou. It is a geological relic of graben-rift type basic volcanic activity and one of the few in my country. It is one of the dormant volcanoes with volcanic eruption activity in the Holocene (10,000 years ago). Formed by volcanic eruptions between 10,000 and 1 million years ago, the area of ????volcanoes covers an area of ??about 108 square kilometers. It is rich in high-quality drinking mineral water and therapeutic geothermal water, and has been hailed as the "green lung" of Haikou city. Tropical native forests and unique ancient basalt stone dwellings.

There are 34 volcanoes in the volcano group, large and small, among which the most representative one is the Ma'anling volcano. Ma'anling is formed by connecting two adjacent volcanoes and is named after its shape like a saddle. The Ma'anling crater is 90 meters deep and is one of the most complete extinct volcano craters in the world.

The lava tunnel is mysterious and eerie. There are dozens of volcanic lava tunnels in the Shishan volcano group, among which Xianren Cave, Huolong Cave and Wolong Cave are the most spectacular. Immortal Cave is located in Rongtang Village, Shishan Town, with a total length of 1,200 meters. It is named after the legend that Taoists practiced in the cave and became immortals. The fairy cave leads to a secluded place with winding paths, a cave in the cave, and a sky outside the sky. The ancient banyan tree blocks out the sun at the entrance of Huolong Cave, and the lava rocks and milk in the cave are in various shapes. Wolong Cave is flat and wide. Two large trucks can be driven into the cave at the same time, and it can accommodate more than 10,000 people.
