The Development Course of Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers' Federation

Since its opening, Hong Kong has gradually developed into a transportation hub for import and export goods around the world and a central port for entrepot trade in the Far East by virtue of its geographical location and status as a free commercial port.

As for industry, due to the lack of resources and material resources, there were only hand-woven industries such as cloth weaving, rattan weaving and bamboo weaving in the early days of port opening. At the beginning of the 20th century, the world industry flourished, and foreign industrial products were based in Hong Kong and sold to the Southeast Asian market. People of insight in Hong Kong, whose position in Hong Kong is conducive to industrial development, began to engage in various industries at that time, and Hong Kong's industry sprouted.

At the beginning of 1933, Hong Kong's industry thrived, with more than 100 factories. There is an urgent need for a joint organization to promote development so that it can go hand in hand with business. In addition, due to the strict tariff barriers in China at that time, Hong Kong industrial products imported into China had to pay tariffs like foreign goods, and Hong Kong industries urgently needed a leading organization to communicate with relevant authorities in China.

In view of this, Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Co., Ltd., Guangwanlong Firecracker Factory and the Friendship Society of Salted Fish Company initiated the establishment of the Overseas Chinese Port Domestic Products Manufacturers Association in September 1933, and elected Cheng Shaokui, Chen Rushan, Zhang Guoguang, Liang Zhixun, Li, Lu Qiliang, Chen and Guan Zhichu as members of the Preparatory Committee.

1On March 28th, 934, the Preparatory Committee held a general meeting, adopted the articles of association, and renamed the organization "Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers Association". In April of that year 1 1, the manufacturers' association elected the first director, and recommended four people, namely Cheng Shaokui, Chen Rushan, Wu Juntao and Liang Zhixun, to sign the document and report it to the director of civil affairs of Huamin for the record.

On September 1 of the same year, the inaugural meeting of the Manufacturers' Association was held in the auditorium of Hotel No.4, with Ye Lanquan as the chairman and Dr. Luo Xuzhen, honorary president, invited to preside over the opening ceremony. At that time, the manufacturer would have 59 factory number members, 1 1 individual members. Industrial organizations in Hong Kong have begun to take shape.

Since then, the manufacturers' association has been playing a leading role in leading the continuous development of Hong Kong's industry and commerce. Over the years, many unforgettable events have taken place in manufacturers' meetings. The following are some important events:

In 2002, the seminar on economic and trade cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was jointly organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Macao and renamed as the seminar on economic and trade cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and Hong Kong and Macao, aiming at promoting economic and trade cooperation between the four places across the Taiwan Strait.

In May 2003, we donated HK$ 2 million, together with RMB 6,543,800+700,000 donated by our members, to carry out a series of anti-inflammatory support work for SARS.

In 2004, to celebrate its 70th anniversary, large-scale dinners, exhibitions, overseas delegations and lectures were held. In the same year, "Manufacturers' Association Insurance Agency Co., Ltd." and "Manufacturers' Association Exhibition Service Co., Ltd." were established to provide high-quality insurance intermediary and exhibition-related services for members and industries.

In September 2004, the industrial exhibition entered Shanghai for the first time and was held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The four-day exhibition attracted 654.38 million visitors.

In 2005, it took the lead in setting up the Hong Kong Brand Development Council and adding the "Hong Kong Service Brand Election" to promote the development of local service brands.

In March 2005, a representative office was established in Guangzhou to provide mainland support and membership services.

In 2006, we established "Secretary Service Co., Ltd." to provide professional and high-quality company secretaries and one-stop business services for small and medium-sized enterprises.

In February 2009, "Marketing Planning and Promotion Co., Ltd. of Manufacturers' Association" was established to provide marketing and project planning services for small and medium-sized enterprises.

In May 2009, the "Workshop Fair Fanghua Club" was established, which brought together beautiful women who had participated in previous "Miss Workshop Elections" and participated in promoting the development of industrial and commercial circles and public welfare activities.

In June, 2009, "Hong Kong Famous Brand Election" celebrated its 10th anniversary, held a large-scale luncheon and published "Brand Story @ Hong Kong" to share the successful experience of the winning brands.
