What kind of place is Longyan?

Longyan City is located at 24°23'-26°02' north latitude and 115°51'-117°45' east longitude. It borders Quanzhou and Zhangzhou cities in Fujian Province to the east, Ganzhou City of Jiangxi Province to the west, Meizhou City of Guangdong Province to the south, and Sanming City of Fujian Province to the north. It is 142 kilometers away from Xiamen (highway mileage, the same below), 216 kilometers away from Quanzhou, and 376 kilometers away from Fuzhou. Longyan is the closest inland city to Xiamen and adjacent to the sea. It is also a transportation hub and important channel for the economic zone on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait to extend its two wings, connect the two continents, and expand its hinterland.

At the foot of Cuiping Mountain, 2 kilometers east of Longyan City, there is a karst cave. This cave is named "Longyan Cave" because the rock pattern resembles a dragon, and the name of Longyan City comes from this.

Longyan City is an administrative region composed of ancient Longyan Prefecture and part of the original Ting Prefecture that was added to it after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Because it is located in the west of Fujian, and Fujian is also called "Min", Longyan City is also called "Western Fujian".
