(2) Development goals
By 2007, the beef output of 62 key counties in the dominant beef producing areas of Central Plains and Northeast China will increase by about 30% compared with 200 1, among which the proportion of high-quality beef will increase from less than 5% to more than 20% at present, and the average carcass weight will increase by about 1 1%.

The region includes 7 cities and 38 counties and cities in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. The region is located in temperate zone, with mild climate, abundant rainfall and rich pasture, which is suitable for developing beef cattle production. Among the five famous local yellow cattle breeds in China, four breeds (Qinchuan cattle, Nanyang cattle, Luxi cattle and Jinnan cattle) can be traced back to the southwest of China. This area is also an area where the improvement of beef cattle breeds has achieved remarkable results, and the production level of beef cattle is relatively high.
