Yang Si (yangsi) was born in Changsha, Hunan Province in the Song Dynasty. Legend has it that when he was seven years old, he became a god. After beheading the dragon, he was made a general. He could save water and drive away the plague. The Yangtze River valley was full of admirers. Plague spread to Cai Gang in the late Qing Dynasty. Xu of Honggang Village led thirteen villagers to Jiangxi on foot for more than ten days and invited them to drive back the epidemic. Later, the villagers built a temple to worship and pray for good luck and a long life. Lv Zu (Chunyang), fairy sister Yunshan and fairy mother Jinshan are also enshrined in the temple.
