There is a little-known secret hidden deep in the mountains of western Sichuan. It has high mountains and seas, majestic snow-capped mountains, steaming hot springs, and dreamy colorful forests. This place is Danngling.

Dangling is located in Bianer Township in the northwest of Danba County, Garze Prefecture, 68 kilometers away from the county seat. It is said that in the early years of the Tang Dynasty, a large number of Dangxiang Qiang people moved south here. They were deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery of the plateau, so they settled down. They also called the Daxue Mountain in the south Dangling Mountain, which means "choice", to commemorate the decision of the tribe. The name "Dangling" was retained in this way.

Dangling is the most prominent place in the northern part of the Daxue Mountains of the Hengduan Mountains. The unique geology, landforms and climatic conditions allow Danling to still preserve the original natural ecosystem. There are majestic snow peaks, dotted mountain lakes, natural and primitive open-air hot springs and dense virgin forests. Danngling is surrounded by 28 peaks above 5,000 meters, forming a majestic and magnificent scenery surrounded by peaks and connected by snow-capped mountains. Among them, the Xia Qiang La Sacred Mountain and the Xia Qiang Nea Sacred Mountain are the most famous.

Xia Qiang La is the main peak of Danling Snow Mountain, with an altitude of 5470 meters. It means "Beauty Mountain" in Tibetan and is one of the gods of the Mordo Mountain.

Danngling Snow Mountain is also the highest altitude snow mountain that the Red Army climbed during the Long March. Many well-preserved stone slogans of the Red Army are still left in Danling.

Among the Danling mountains, there are more than 30 mountain lakes such as Huluhai, Zhuoyongcuo, Macuo, Sianye and Ayumcuo. They are the ice left by ancient glaciers in the Quaternary period. Moraine barrier lakes and cirques are embedded in the valleys. Each lake is like a mirror, reflecting the snow-capped mountains and forests.

The most famous Haizi in Danling are Huluhai and Zhuoyongcuo (Dahaizi).

Calabash Sea is a dream place for hikers. No matter when you come, you will see its fairyland-like beauty. The spring is full of vitality, the summer is green and refreshing, the autumn is colorful, and the winter is covered in silver.

Colorful forests all over the mountains and plains, blue sky, unpredictable sea of ??clouds, quiet and pure sea, the beauty will make you leave it behind. All the noise and troubles in the world, Dangling is a place where you can relax physically and mentally and let your thoughts fly.

Zhuoyongcuo, also known as Dahaizi, has an altitude of 4,500 meters. It is the largest lake with the highest altitude in Danling. From Zhuoyongcuo, you can see Xia Qiang La, Xia Qiang Nea Snow Peak and Calabash Sea at the same time. It is the best viewing platform. In the first picture below, Zhuoyongcuo is much larger than Huluhai above. Only about 50 people can climb up to see the whole picture every year. It takes 2 hours of hiking to get to Zhuoyongcuo from Huluhai.

There are three hot springs in Danling Hot Spring***. After testing, this spring is a bicarbonate-type neutral high-quality medical hot mineral spring, containing a variety of minerals. The temperature of hot spring No. 1 is average, the water quality of hot spring No. 2 is poor and almost abandoned. The water quality of hot spring No. 3 is good, the water temperature is good, the area is relatively large, next to the river, there is a platform on the side where you can camp. It is 5 kilometers away from the village and takes more than four hours to walk there and back.

Tips

1. Route

It is about 70 kilometers from Danba County to Danling. The road conditions are poor in the last 20 kilometers, and it is difficult to meet cars on the narrow road. , the current road conditions are the best in recent years. It is recommended to drive yourself or charter a car. After arriving at Danling Village, you can enter on horseback or on foot. The hike takes 6 hours. Those who are in poor physical condition or women are advised to ride horses directly up the mountain and hike back.

2. Accommodation

There are many inns to choose from in Danling Village. Most of them have floor heating, where you can take a bath and order food. Most hikers or tourists will stay at Song Secretary Inn or Old Village Chief Inn. If you are going during the National Day, it is best to book in advance.

3. The best viewing time in autumn is around October 15-20.

Mosca, an original Tibetan village next to the Danba Jinlong Snow Mountain, has beautiful scenery. The most attractive thing is that you will run away when you see it. Here comes the prairie dog. It is 70 kilometers from Danba to Mosca. The road is narrow and the road conditions are average. It takes 2 hours to drive.
