7.2 Confucius said, "What is it to me to learn silently, never tire of learning and never tire of teaching others?"

7.2 Confucius said, "What is it to me to learn silently, never tire of learning and never tire of teaching others?"

Confucius put forward three criteria for learning:

1. Learn by silence

Learn by silence. Learning is not to read aloud, but to keep it in mind silently, experience it in your own heart, and really understand it and use it. You can't forget it unless you use it.

2. Never tire of learning

When people want to learn, they all work hard at the beginning, but they get bored and slack off when they are fiddling with it. If the kung fu is interrupted, it will be difficult to achieve anything. Therefore, Zeng Guofan repeatedly emphasized that "the work is continuous day by day", which is to never tire of learning.

3. Be tireless in teaching others

This is a requirement for teachers. Teaching without distinction, teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and teaching others tirelessly are the standards for Confucius to be a teacher. You should enlighten the students wholeheartedly, no matter how stupid he is, you will not give up or get tired, and help him understand wholeheartedly.

Confucius said, I can do these three things by knowing silently, learning tirelessly and teaching tirelessly! In addition to these three, what is it for me? What else do I have? Interpretation of the empowerment king?

good morning, everyone.

make a speech at night to realize your dream.

writing and speaking make you grow seven times faster.

the more you give, the richer you get!

Yesterday, we talked about Confucius comparing himself to Lao Peng, and said himself in eight words: saying without doing, believing and being ancient.

that is to say, I just sort out the things of my predecessors and carry them forward. I don't have any new inventions and creations. I believe in the wisdom handed down by the ancients.

Think about it. He said he didn't have any new inventions. He just relayed the achievements of his predecessors. Is that right?

yes, it is.

Yes, it means that he really handed down Yu Dacheng, a collection of previous cultural achievements, and made the Chinese nation last for 3, years.

is there really nothing there? He put all these things together, and in his own words, he actually created them. This 492-chapter Analects of Confucius is basically his words and deeds, which is a model for generations to come.

The enlightenment for us is that we should not always think about being unconventional, but always want to innovate. First, learn honestly and master it, and you will be great, don't you think?

? A brief review of what was said yesterday, let's learn the next chapter today.

Confucius said, "What is it to me to learn silently and never tire of learning and never tire of teaching others?"

please understand this sentence carefully.

first, the method of learning.

absorb it silently and keep it in mind.

second, the attitude of learning is that you never tire of learning.

There are two explanations here. One is that you are not bored and enjoy it.

The other is dissatisfaction. Many people will be satisfied if they learn. I have learned everything, and I understand everything. This is not right, and the correct attitude is not satisfied.

third, the spirit of teaching.

Teach others not to get bored. I will teach good students, and I will teach bad students. Anyway, I have taught them. Do you like listening or not? Will you love them?

the last sentence: what's good for me! This sentence has three meanings.

Some people say: Confucius said that I didn't do these three things, which is an explanation.

the second explanation is that I have nothing else to do except to do these three things.

the third explanation is, why is it difficult for me? This is my usual style.

are these three explanations reasonable? All have their own reasons, so what's the difference? It looks very big, but in fact, for Confucius, it's nothing. Listen to me for details.

first, you should know zhi silently, and you should be knowledgeable and knowledgeable.

knowing it by heart means that learning is not for lip service. I read it and tell others that I have a job, and I also learned it. It's a superficial article for others to see.

In fact, whether children or adults, learning is not for others.

for whom? I learned it for myself.

what do you mean by learning for yourself? Learn it, keep it in mind, understand it, and be able to apply it and become your own.

The beauty of operation lies in one heart. You use it well. The key lies in your heart. You can digest and absorb it and turn it into your own. This is the way to learn.

Some people read it as knowledge, which means knowing.

A student once asked Wang Yangming, Teacher, I can't remember reading. What should I do?

Wang Yangming said: Who made you remember? If you remember, you don't know. If you know, you don't have to remember.

What does this sentence mean, that is, we should not learn by rote, but understand and apply it, which is actually similar. Anyway, no matter whether you read shi or zhi, everyone knows that you should know it silently and know it in your heart.

the second one is to learn without getting tired, which means the attitude of learning. As I mentioned just now, one is that learning is fun, not boring, not boring.

In fact, many people can't do this. How can I put it? Let's learn something. For example, read a book. When you look at it, you get bored, but you can't stand it. You feel boring.

We came to a super speaker to practice speaking. At first, we were very interested, but we got tired of doing it. What? If it is boring, it will slack off.

Let's think about it. If we keep slacking off, can you really achieve anything? Therefore, Zeng Guofan has always stressed that if you want to make continuous efforts every day, you will never tire of learning.

Then, let's think about it. What do we do as super speakers? That is, we are required to make speeches and do them every day without interruption, and regard it as a habit, just like eating and sleeping, just like drinking water, just like going to the toilet. This is a daily routine.

Take reading as an example. Some people like reading, looking for books everywhere, and asking people for a list of books everywhere, but few of them are finished, and all of them are turned over and put down.

Zeng Guofan also talked about the standard of reading. First of all, read the next book after reading one book, and don't read the next book until you finish reading it here.

I hope everyone will study together. I haven't spoken much in the group recently. I don't know if you have noticed.

Actually, I'm reading, including many books I have recommended to you recently. I don't know if you've noticed, but now I recommend them to you. In fact, there are many books to recommend to you. I don't know if I have time to study, but I still need to study hard.

the second one is that you are not satisfied with your studies, and boredom means satisfaction.

This is what we should emphasize in particular. Don't think that if I learn a little, I will learn everything. I can do it. I don't need to learn any more.

Everyone must remember that there is no end to learning, and there is no end to learning. It is never too late to learn.

next, let's talk about the third item, and teach people tirelessly. This sentence is a requirement for teachers, so some people will ask: Big Brother, don't you say three ways to learn?

In fact, we have always emphasized that teaching is the best way to learn.

If you can be a good teacher, you are a good student. If you can be a good student, you are a good teacher, don't you think?

Educating people also requires a spirit. What spirit? Never tire of repenting.

teach all students in accordance with their aptitude. As we all said, education does not distinguish between classes, men and women, old and young, loyal and traitors. No matter who it is, we must find ways to give education.

teaching without distinction is unique to Confucius. In the past, the lower classes were not allowed to be educated. One was that the conditions were not allowed. The other was that it was useless for you to learn. Just do what you were told. You know so much about what to do. That's our privileged class, right? This is teaching without discrimination, and Kong Old Master Q started it first.

The third is to teach people tirelessly, and to enlighten students wholeheartedly. No matter how stupid he is, you can't give up.

why do you say that?

Because we all know that a teacher likes good students best. When he meets a good student, he can't wait to dance. Why? Because as soon as he said it, he knew that it was good for two people to smile and be happy.

But there are not so many good students. Most of them are just so-so. You have to tell them twice to understand.

Some students simply think it's too difficult, but they just don't understand things that are so easy to understand. It depends on your attitude at this time.

If a student is a little stupid, we will get bored again. If you get angry and slack off, I won't teach you. Will love make this student lose interest? Anyway, I won't. I'm also stupid. If I don't learn, this future will be delayed.

what should I do? Be patient, comfort him well, teach him twice more, and use the method he knows best.

actually, you will find that there are not so many stupid people. As long as he is interested and eager to learn, he will soon master it. We should not divide people into 369 grades by nature. He is stupid, and it is meaningless to teach him. This is not acceptable.

some people will say that I am not a teacher! In fact, each of us is both a student and a teacher, especially for our comrades-in-arms.

Everyone knows that parents are their children's first teachers. There is no doubt about this. When you give birth to a child, you feed him, let him learn well and train him. You are the first teacher and have a great responsibility.

Everyone knows what you should do with your children. They are all good scholars, and I don't need to say much.

Many of our comrades-in-arms are bosses, like Shu Yan and Li Boss.

There are many people like Qiu Yan and Melissa Zhou, who are still leaders and middle-level cadres. So if you have employees under you, some employees are smarter and thorough, while others need you to work harder. What should I do? Teach him well, teach him, and you will be relaxed, don't you think so?

I'm not a leader either. I don't have any children at home now, so I'm not a teacher? Not really. You are an old colleague, and a new colleague has come. Do you want to teach him well?

In the past, we were afraid to say that we had taught our disciples to starve to death, but are we still afraid now? Not now. Now that you have taught your disciples, it will be easy for you to teach new people, otherwise you will have to do everything yourself! Whether as a person or for yourself, you should teach others well and be a good teacher, which requires us to be tireless, not tired and not afraid.

what is the most important thing about learning in Confucianism? At two o'clock, one is reading and the other is making friends. You can't study at home, reading is input, making friends is output and input.

in the process of interacting with others, we discussed and learned from each other, such as cutting and grinding, do you remember? Zi Gong said it. Gentlemen will be tireless in teaching each other.

Hua Shan said that he went to Israel himself, and an Israeli explained to him the teaching method in Israel, that is, students study together in pairs, which has been passed down for two thousand years. This is similar to having deskmates when we go to school, you know? Two people at the same table, as classmates, can learn from each other and supervise each other.

Then in 27 and 217, when we first joined, we also adopted the deskmate system, that is, Shi Ting and I were deskmates and urged each other. But now there is less contact, and everyone is too busy. It is a very good solution to urge each other to learn, educate each other and accept each other's suggestions.

is it hard to teach people tirelessly? It's hard. Most people can't do it, but it's easier said than done. As long as you have this spirit, it's good that you think of ways to teach others. It's the right way to achieve yourself.

let's say again: what's good for me!

There are three explanations mentioned just now:

One explanation is Confucius' modesty, but I haven't done all three! Both Zhu Xi and Zhang Juzheng hold this view!

I think, and Hua Shan also thinks, this view is not so modest for Confucius. He has so many students who are very powerful characters, so it doesn't make much sense for him to be there.

I took the second one, that is, I just did these three things.

what's the evidence? There is.

There is a passage in Mencius called Gongsun Chou.

Zi Gong asked Confucius, "Is the master holy?" Confucius said, "I can't be holy, but I never tire of learning and never tire of teaching." Zi Gong said, "Never tire of learning, and you will be wise; Teaching is tireless and benevolent. "Benevolence is wise, and the master is holy."

Zi Gong asked Confucius, teacher, do you think you are a saint? Confucius said that if I can't be a saint, I can do it, never tire of learning and never tire of teaching others. Zi Gong said that it is wisdom to learn without being tired, and it is benevolence to teach people without being tired. Teachers are both wise and benevolent, and that is of course a saint. See the meaning clearly in this way.

I can learn silently, never tire of learning, and never tire of teaching others. What else can I do besides these three?

then another explanation is why it's so hard for me! None of these three things are called things. This is what I can do. Does it make sense? That makes sense, but it's a little arrogant. I think the second explanation just now is more appropriate.

well, it's time for this chapter, and that's it.

make a brief summary again. We should learn for ourselves, silently keep it in mind and use it. Don't be bored or satisfied with your study. This is a learning attitude. As a lifelong learner, you should always know that there are people outside. The third is to educate others to be persistent and not tired. Teaching others is the purpose, not to finish the task after teaching. This is a teaching spirit and responsibility for students, as well as for yourself.

Kong Old Master Q can do these three things to the extreme and become a saint through the ages. We may not be saints, but we should learn from the learning attitude and methods of saints, try our best to be good and get close to them infinitely.

at 6: 3 tomorrow morning, let's continue to interpret the next chapter.

Confucius said: I am worried if I don't practice virtue, don't talk about learning, can't migrate if I smell righteousness, and can't change if I'm not good.

what do the four points mentioned here mean? We'll talk tomorrow.
