Tanzhe Temple in Tallinn

Tallinn of Tanzhe Temple is located on the south slope outside the entrance of Tanzhe Temple in Mentougou District, Beijing. According to the records in the temple, there is Huayan Pagoda built in Tianbao period of Tang Dynasty on Lotus Peak in the northwest of the temple, the tomb pagoda of late Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk and lawyer Liang Yuan in the Qing Dynasty on the mountainside of Lotus Peak in the southwest of the temple, and the pagoda of Nanxinfang Village in the south of the temple. Due to age and man-made destruction, many pagodas have already disappeared. These tombs were built in the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The owner of the tomb tower has different status in the Buddhist temple, and the shape and style of the tower are also different.

Tanzhe Temple has experienced more than ten dynasties, and countless monks practice here. Tallinn is the resting place of eminent monks of all ages. There are 75 pagodas in Tallinn. The upper pagodas were built in the Qing Dynasty, all of which are bowl-shaped pagodas. There are 28 existing pagodas, mainly around the town. Xiata Courtyard was mainly built in the Jin, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, with 47 existing buildings.

Towers vary in shape, including stone frame towers, square single-story pagodas, brick pagodas with dense eaves, and Tibetan stone pagodas covered with alms. Mainly Guanghui Tongli Pagoda, there are Gong Elder Pagoda in Jin Dynasty, Master Pagoda in Yuan Dynasty, Devadasta, an Indian monk, and Pagoda, a Japanese monk, etc. In addition, there are ten common pagodas (Wan Pagodas) where ordinary monks are buried. At present, there are 75 tombs in the upper and lower pagodas of Tanzhe Temple, which is the largest and most well-preserved tomb pagoda in Beijing. Its elegant and solemn shape is a model of ancient architectural art, which provides important architectural objects and precious materials for the study of Buddhism and ancient pagodas in China.
