Why are rebels in China's literature not thorough enough?

I met this problem in the first literature class in college.

The image of rebels in China's literature is not thorough enough. The fundamental reason is that the intellectuals in China, especially the literati, have to live on the basis of "tradition" even if they oppose or even rebel against it in their articles. This is called "progress", or their economic foundation is originally endowed by "tradition".

For example, Cao Xueqin in ancient times, Mr. Lu Xun and Yu Dafu in modern times are all critical of society, but they themselves came out of the family of criticized ideology, so the existence of this contradiction is inevitable and understandable.
