D2 steel is a cold-working die steel with high wear resistance and small deformation, which belongs to air-quenched tool steel. The mass fraction of carbon in this steel is as high as 1.5% and the mass fraction of chromium is as high as 1 1.5%. After heat treatment, the hardness can reach 60HRC, but the ductility, toughness and rust resistance are relatively weak, so it is difficult to mirror polish the steel surface. With the development of cold stamping products in the direction of high precision, high efficiency and variety, die steel is required to have good wear resistance and toughness. Compared with Cr 12MoV steel, the chemical composition of this steel increases Mo and V, changes the casting structure of the steel, improves the shape of the fur shell, and has better strength, toughness and wear resistance than Cr 12MoV steel, thus prolonging the service life of the die. Because the yield point and plastic deformation resistance of this steel are higher than that of Cr 12MoV steel, its forging performance and thermoplastic formability are slightly worse than that of Cr 12MoV steel.
