Reflections on Tao Xingzhi's educational anthology Our Credo

What is a creed? Credo is a principle of belief and observance. What is my creed as a teacher? Before reading "Our Credo" by the educator Mr. Tao Xingzhi, I always regarded myself as a rule that must be observed.

After reading Mr. Tao Xingzhi's creed carefully, I am delighted to find that among many creeds, one is very familiar, that is-

We firmly believe that teachers should set an example.

Is this different from my original idea? Setting an example is easier said than done.

Since you want to set an example, you must first do what you ask your child to do; You must never touch anything that you are asked not to do.

Every day, the children have classes before 7: 45. I ask myself to get to class at least five minutes earlier than them, see how they get to school and organize them to do morning reading. Every time I have my own class, I always go to class in advance and make good preparations before class. Some colleagues laughed at me for going too early, but I think going early will make me calmer, and I can chat with my children and bring me closer.

In the class I teach, students are required to learn to be civilized teenagers. But sometimes, some children will swear from time to time because of family environment and other reasons. I will ask them to explain why they say this, as long as they apologize to each other in time and use more civilized language when communicating with their classmates. Not only do I ask students like this, but I also strictly ask myself not to speak uncivilized language no matter how angry I am.

I have been teaching for more than ten years, and I have been trying to influence children with my positive behavior. However, sometimes some improper educational behaviors can't play a good educational role.

In my memory, there is a child named Jia. He is cheerful and naughty, and likes to joke with his classmates, but sometimes he can't grasp it when joking.

One noon, I went to Jia's dormitory as usual. Walking not far from Jia's dormitory, I heard a frolic, and I guessed that Jia might be involved. Sure enough, as soon as I stepped into the room, I saw Jia pressing on a classmate, doing intimate movements, and my head suddenly became confused. I really doubt whether I am wrong. How is it possible for such a small child? But when I look at it carefully, it is really right.

At that moment, I realized that the child's behavior was not appropriate enough, and my heart was full of anger. I called Jia from the upper berth to me, and before I could ask them what they were doing, I began to criticize them like a storm. The child didn't say anything when he knew he was wrong.

When I severely criticized him, I began to fall into deep remorse. Why didn't I take calm education at that time? Why can't you ask him the whole story calmly? Can such criticism play a good role in educating children? Maybe the child just thinks it's fun, not what he thinks. Is his approach too arbitrary?

This reminds me of Tao Xingzhi's treatment of a child who made a mistake. He not only treats boys who make mistakes calmly, but also rewards children, which makes people admire him in a smart and wise way. This is the beautiful appearance of education.

In the future education, every time I feel very angry and want to get angry, I will always use the negative education examples at that time to tell myself that I should think more about good ways to educate my children.

Learning to be a teacher is a good example. In order to set a good example for children, we should not only lead by example, but also constantly improve our self-cultivation, establish the awareness of lifelong learning, update the concept of education, and strive to be a good teacher that children like.
