The College of Earth Sciences and Resources, founded in 1952, is one of the oldest colleges in China Geo University with the strongest faculty. Its predecessor was the former Department of Mineral Geology and General Survey and Exploration of Beijing Geo University. 199 1 year, the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources was formed by the merger of the first department, the second department, the third department, the central laboratory and the geological history research office, and was renamed as the current name in 1999. College has a group of highly respected earth scientists: Zhao, Yu Chongwen, Zhai Yusheng, Zhang Benren, Jin Zhenmin, Mo Xuanxue and Gao Shan. Over the past 60 years, the college has trained a large number of high-level talents, including more than 20 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering. In order to meet the needs of the reform of education system and science and technology system under the condition of socialist market economy, the College of Geology has initially established a discipline and specialty system featuring geological resources, focusing on science and combining science with engineering. The college has 18 disciplines, including paleontology and stratigraphy (including paleoanthropology), geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, mineral deposit science, structural geology, Quaternary geology, mineral investigation and exploration, earth exploration and information technology, cartography and geographic information engineering, photogrammetry and remote sensing. Among them, paleontology and stratigraphy (including paleoanthropology), geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology, deposit science, mineral investigation and exploration, and structural geology are five national key disciplines; Quaternary geology, cartography and geographic information engineering are provincial and ministerial key disciplines. There are three majors in undergraduate enrollment: geology, geochemistry and resource exploration engineering (solid minerals). The college has seven teaching and research departments: stratigraphic paleontology, tectonic geology, geochemistry, mineral rocks, mineral deposits and exploration, remote sensing and earth information, and Quaternary.

Geology, geological resources and geological engineering are three postdoctoral mobile stations. The college enrolls doctoral and master students in 16 disciplines and 150 research directions. In addition, according to the "2 1 1 project" master plan of China Geo University (Beijing), the college strategically focuses on developing three discipline groups: geodynamics, global event detection and evaluation, and geo-information. The college currently has 3994 students. Among them, there are 728 doctoral students, 723 master students in engineering, and 4 undergraduates in12/kloc-0.

The Academy of Earth Sciences has always been in a leading position at home and abroad in geodynamics, earth rhythm and global geological events, rock probes and deep processes, genetic mineralogy and prospecting mineralogy, metallogenic system and regional metallogeny, discovery and development of non-traditional mineral resources, complexity of geological system, geochemical dynamics and orogenic belt research. In recent years, college teachers have undertaken the national "973" project, "863" project, science and technology public relations project, natural science fund project and so on. During the year, more than 50 retrieval articles were published in three major fields.

In recent years, the College of Geology has carried out multi-level international academic and scientific research exchanges, carried out transnational geological practice for undergraduates, overseas study and academic exchanges for postgraduates, sent young teachers abroad for further study and scientific research cooperation, and introduced many internationally renowned professors to teach geological courses for undergraduates and postgraduates. The College has organized many international academic conferences and several training courses on resource engineering in African countries.

In order to strengthen the cultivation of students' practical ability, based on the rich geological phenomena in Xishan, Beijing, the field practice system of major courses, field knowledge practice in Beidaihe (2 weeks), field teaching practice in Zhoukoudian (6 weeks) and international field teaching practice (2 weeks) were established, and several Industry-University-Research bases (Zhaoyuan Gold Mine Base in Shandong, Yangshan Gold Mine Base in Gansu, Yunyun Mining Enterprise Base in Yunnan, Yuntaishan Base in Henan and Tibet) were established.
