What kind of city is Anyang?

Anyang is one of the eight ancient capitals in China, and the other seven are Beijing, Xi, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou.

Anyang, formerly known as Yin, Ye and Xiangzhou, is a prefecture-level city in Henan Province. Located in the northernmost part of Henan Province, at the junction of Henan, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, it is connected to Taihang Mountain in the west, Puyang in the east, Handan in the north and Hebi and Xinxiang in the south.

Anyang is a national historical and cultural city, one of the eight ancient capitals in China and one of the top ten ancient cities in China. Seven dynasties, namely Shang Dynasty, Cao Wei, Hou Zhao, Wei Ran, Yan Qian, Eastern Wei and Northern Qi, all established their capitals here, which is called "Seven Dynasties" in history. Yin Ruins in Anyang are the first ruins of the capital city recorded and confirmed by archaeology and Oracle Bone Inscriptions in China. Anyang is the place where Oracle Bone Inscriptions was discovered and the birthplace of Zhouyi. Yin Ruins and China Grand Canal (Yongji Canal) are two world cultural heritages.

As of 20 17, Anyang has a total area of 5,599 square kilometers, governing 4 districts and 4 counties 1 county-level city. It is a regional central city in the border area of Henan, Shanxi and Hebei provinces, and also the southernmost city of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration. Won the titles of China Excellent Tourist City, National Garden City, China Top Ten Characteristic Leisure City, China air sports Capital, China Calligraphy Capital, etc. On September 20 16, Anyang was selected as "Top People's Livelihood Development of Prefecture-level Cities in China 100".
