Perhaps engineering colleges have always been silent. University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is not as long as Peking University or as extroverted as Tsinghua. In front of these top universities in China, we are not so outstanding. However, in the summer of 2004, we finally climbed to the top of the national colleges and universities, and the voice full of rationality and wisdom echoed in the light of victory. All successful people shouted proudly, "I am proud, I am a successful person." Yes, we have reason to be proud. We finally took off the wreath of the Muse and won the national college students' debate contest. This year, we are about to stand on the stage of the International Chinese College Students Debate Competition, showing the elegance of 20 years of electronic debate.

In the eyes of others, the combination of debate and electricity may be incredible. Perhaps it is a historical coincidence, but each of us should know what path our debate has taken!

So far, we don't know what the debating contest was like 20 years ago, who were the contestants from all departments and who were the final winners. Maybe all the debaters on the court are immature, experienced or mixed. This debate may not be very exciting, but for us today, none of this matters. Most importantly, they opened a door to the future, a door to the kingdom of thinking and wisdom.

Once we thought we were mature, that eternity was just a beautiful fairy tale, that time would change everything, and that all vows and pursuits would vanish with the passage of time. A question has appeared in our minds many times: "How many times can a person fall and get up?" ? Once, twice or more times? The answer given by debaters is: "Twenty years, even forever. "

1997, runner-up of the national computer debate competition for college students; 1998, the top eight of the first college students' debate competition; In 2000, the second national college debate competition narrowly beat Wuhan University team; In 2002, the third National Debate Competition for College Students was defeated by Sun Yat-sen University and won the second place. This unforgettable footprint left by the school debate has left many regrets and regrets! How many strong teams have been brilliant in the national college students' debate competition for a while, and then quietly passed away and never disappeared again. However, it is not easy for our debaters of HKUST to forge ahead in the torrent and persevere. However, God has carried out such a sentence: God assigned a great responsibility to Zeus, and we must first suffer from it, work hard and starve to death ... how many times we are only one step away from victory, and how many times we miss the championship! However, with their unremitting efforts, the debaters of Chengdian fought against their fate unremittingly. How many old players left Chengdian with regrets and reluctantly left the debate? How many outstanding old players stay and continue to guide new debaters to open up new horizons on the road of debate, and how many new players go further and further, and how many new players take to the debate stage with dreams and hopes.

Everything comes to him who waits, where there is a will, there is a way. In a flash, 20 years of power saving and precipitation have cast our glory-we have a Beijing dream! Standing at the peak of the national college students' debate competition-we won the championship! Looking back on the ups and downs of our school debate team, is it bitter or sweet?

The first batch of successful debaters probably never imagined that 20 years later, we will represent China and show our success in the World Chinese Debate Competition. We don't know how the future university debate will develop and where our debate will go. We can only pray silently in our hearts: "bon voyage!"
