Why not change the license plate when the vehicle is transferred?

Vehicles can be transferred, license plates are not allowed to be transferred,

Vehicle transfer will cancel the license plate and driving license, and issue a new license plate to the transferee.

After the vehicle management has been completed for 3 years, you can apply for retaining the license plate for half a year when transferring.

Provisions on motor vehicle registration:

Article 18 Where the ownership of a registered motor vehicle is transferred, the owner of the motor vehicle shall apply to the motor vehicle management office for transfer registration within 30 days from the date of delivery of the motor vehicle.

Before applying for transfer registration, the owner of a motor vehicle shall deal with the illegal acts of road traffic safety and traffic accidents involving the vehicle.

Nineteenth to apply for transfer registration, the current motor vehicle owner shall fill in the application form, submit the motor vehicle for inspection, and submit the following documents and vouchers:

(a) the identity certificate of the current motor vehicle owner;

(2) Certificates and vouchers of the transfer of ownership of motor vehicles;

(3) Motor vehicle registration certificate;

(4) Motor vehicle driving license;

(five) the customs supervision of motor vehicles shall also submit the "Certificate of Deregulation of Vehicles under Customs Supervision in People's Republic of China (PRC)" or the transfer certificate approved by the customs;

(six) motor vehicles that have exceeded the validity period of the inspection shall also submit the certificate of motor vehicle safety and technical inspection and the compulsory insurance certificate for traffic accident liability.

If the current motor vehicle owner lives in the jurisdiction of the vehicle management office, the vehicle management office shall, within one day from the date of accepting the application, confirm the motor vehicle, check the rubbing film of the vehicle identification code, review the submitted documents and vouchers, recover the license plate and driving license, determine the new motor vehicle license plate number, endorse the transfer matters on the motor vehicle registration certificate, and reissue the license plate, driving license and inspection mark.

Article 52 After the registration of a motor vehicle is transferred or cancelled, the owner of the original motor vehicle may apply to the vehicle management office to use the original motor vehicle license plate number when applying for the registration of a newly purchased motor vehicle.

The application for using the original motor vehicle license plate number shall meet the following conditions:

(a) to apply within six months after the transfer registration or cancellation of registration;

(two) the owner of the motor vehicle has owned the original motor vehicle for more than three years;

(3) The road traffic safety violations and traffic accidents involving the original motor vehicles have been dealt with.
