Talk about things that are important but not urgent

When we discuss time management or goal management, we often cannot avoid talking about important but not urgent things, and any rational thinker will know that important but not urgent things should be done first. Do it in advance (this way your life won’t always be filled with a bunch of important and urgent things).

?But what is the reality?

I think no one disagrees that health is the basis of our survival and development, and all our happiness is built on the basis of health. But we ask ourselves, what have I done for this important but not urgent matter? You clearly know that smoking is harmful to your health, but you turn a blind eye to the huge Chinese characters on the cigarette packs; you clearly know that drinking alcohol harms your liver and stomach, but you can't resist the warm invitation of your friends; you clearly know that exercise can improve your physical fitness, but you keep doing it again and again The earth will lose to countless tomorrows... Our emotions will always look like a victorious general in front of reason!

Reason tells you that this matter is very important. Emotions are aside and dismissive. "How important can it be? Do you have to persevere? Fundamentally, I have it." The bad nature in the process of human evolution-instant gratification is completely defeated. We are lying comfortably in our comfort zone again. Not making a decision or changing seems to be the best choice. Until something important and urgent happens (usually the consequences of this thing are unbearable for us), you will find that at this time your reason will become extremely powerful like a shot of chicken blood. Regardless of whether you feel happy or not, you must do what you need to do. Do.

Let’s take health as an example. My husband has an uncle who can be said to be a heavy drinker. He would have a few drinks in the morning and then start the day's work contentedly. Although his uncle's lifestyle encountered strong opposition from his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, he stopped struggling after repeated threats and inducements to no avail. My uncle stubbornly and firmly adhered to his philosophy of instant gratification, until one day he was admitted to the hospital due to unbearable chest pain. The big word "cirrhosis of the liver" is like a shot in the arm to reason, and reason rises instantly. So the uncle put down his favorite wine and started a healthy career of getting up on time to exercise every day.

I don’t want to discuss the subsequent development of the matter, but this incident caused me to reflect, because there are countless such things in our lives. The subjects you fail because you don’t study hard, the ones you get laid off because you don’t work hard, the opportunities you miss because you don’t prepare, the youth that is fleeting because you don’t cherish it. Because we always underestimate the accumulation of some important things, some results are overwhelmed.

If you have been hurt by such a result or are currently being hurt by such a thing, please face up to the parts that you can still work on and change.

Strategy: Ask yourself how important this matter is to you. What are the possible consequences if you insist on doing it or not doing it for a long time? Can you bear and solve this result? If you can't bear the consequences of doing or not doing something, then you can imagine how important it is, and the only strategy is to act immediately. The consequence of not taking action immediately is that you will forget the importance of this matter and gradually forget the terrible consequences of this matter. It is not until the worst part that you suddenly realize that you have forgotten.

If you want to harvest, don’t wait until the harvest season to remember that you forgot to sow seeds in the spring soil. Whether the happiness or pain you feel now, it must not be for no reason. It must be because we have done or forgotten to do something important but not urgent. I believe in cause and effect, and I also believe that merit should not be wasted.

I dedicate this document to myself and my dear friends.
