Proverbs about agricultural production

There are proverbs about agricultural production.

1. If you don’t work hard in spring, you will be hungry in winter; if you don’t pull weeds in summer, you won’t have enough to eat in winter. Grass is a disease of all crops, and failure to remove the seedlings will lead to death.

2. In July, walnuts are like pears in August, and in September, dates are as sweet as honey; until wheat is planted in the pawn grains in autumn, sweet potatoes are harvested with cold dew.

3. Sorghum is thin and millet is thick. If a cow is lying in a corn field, it will be too thick for corn; if a chicken is lying in an adzuki bean field, it will be too thin for adzuki beans.

Some proverbs tell us how to plant, some tell us how to avoid pests, and when to apply fertilizer... For example: Apply a thousand tons of fertilizer in spring, and harvest ten thousand tons of grain in autumn. The "qiandan fertilizer" here refers to organic fertilizer. This tells everyone that only by allowing the crops to absorb enough nutrients can the product quality be better.
