Looking for peace

Summary: Chapter One.

Wargrave, a recently retired judge, is taking a train to Sticklehaven, a seaside town, where he will take a boat to India. He recalled the rumor circulating on the island that since a mysterious Mr. Owen bought this place, people thought that a movie star or a member of the royal family really owned the island. Vograve took a letter from his pocket and scanned the contents. This letter invited him to stay on the island for a period of time. It was signed by an old friend of his, constance Cummington, who had not seen each other for eight years. He thinks constance is the kind of woman who will buy a place like Indian Island.

On the same train, Vera Kraisorn considered her invitation to the island. She was employed as a secretary by You Na Nancy Owen, who was obviously the wife of the owner of the island. Vera reflected how lucky she was to get the job, especially after she participated in the coroner's investigation into someone's death. We know that she is not responsible for death, but Hugo Hamilton, the person she loves, thinks she is guilty. She thought of the sea and swimming behind someone, because she knew she couldn't get there in time to save him. She forced her thoughts away from those memories and glanced at the man opposite her, thinking that he seemed to have traveled a lot.
