According to the analysis of meteorologists and relevant state departments, various climatic anomalies and special factors have determined the Daxinganling fire, and the reasons are roughly as follows.

First of all, the climate is extremely dry. According to the information provided by the meteorological department, the precipitation in the northern forest areas of Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia decreased by more than 30% compared with the same period of the previous year. Especially since May, most of the precipitation in northeastern Inner Mongolia, western Heilongjiang and northwest China is less than10mm, and the precipitation in some areas is 50%-80% less than normal, and the average precipitation in Heilongjiang Province is 72% less than the historical period.

Second, the temperature continues to be high. The average temperature in Heilongjiang province is 2.5 degrees higher than normal, and the temperature in the east of Heihe River and Daqing is 2-4 degrees higher than normal. In the past 10 days, the temperature was as high as 28-30 degrees, which was higher than that in central China.

Third, the wind is unusually strong. In recent 10 days, strong winds of magnitude 5-6 continued to appear in the fire areas of Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, reaching magnitude 7-8 in some periods, with gusts of magnitude 9- 10, and rotating winds with changeable directions appeared.

Fourth, after the implementation of the natural forest protection project in the northern forest areas of Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, the forest conditions have been improved, and the combustible materials under the forest have increased sharply, reaching 50-60 tons per hectare, far higher than the internationally recognized level of 30 tons per hectare.
