Qian Xuesen (Simplified Chinese: Qian Xuesen; Traditional Chinese: Qian Xuesen; Pinyin: qiá n xué s ē n; Wade-giles: ch 'ien hsueh-sê n) (1120091February191–31. NASA literature usually refers to him as Qian Xuesen. [ 1]

In the AD1940s, Qian was one of the founders of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of California Institute of Technology. During the second Red Panic in 1950, the US government accused Qian of sympathizing with communism and deprived him of his security clearance in 1950 [3]. Qian then decided to return to China, but was detained on the terminal island near Los Angeles. After being under house arrest for five years, Qian was released in 1955 in exchange for the repatriation of American pilots captured in the Korean War. After the US authorities informed him that he was free to leave, Qian immediately arranged for him to take the passenger ship "President Cleveland" on the US presidential route to China via Hongkong on September 1955. After returning to China, he led the rocket project in China and was known as the "father of rockets in China".
