European integration: what is the geographical and social basis for the formation of the European Union?

1. Needless to say, from the geographical point of view, European countries are relatively small in land area, and they are neighbors with convenient transportation and communication.

2. Social factors are mainly because Europe is the main battlefield, and social productivity has been greatly damaged. After the war, it is necessary to restore economic and political strength and promote closer relations between countries.

3. Another important factor in the formation of EU is political factor. After World War II, the United States and the Soviet Union formed a bipolar pattern and the Cold War began. Europe is not willing to be manipulated by the United States. In order to cope with the threat of international capitalism (Soviet Union) and limit the re-emergence of the Federal Republic of Germany, France took the lead and, through a series of efforts, established the Eurobody on 1965, which is the predecessor of the current European Union. 1993 The Maastricht Treaty came into effect and the European institution was renamed the European Union.
