What plays do you have a special liking for?

I have heard all five plays by China. But I've only "heard" the four major operas, namely Beijing Opera, Yue Opera, Kunqu Opera and Pingju Opera, and I haven't really appreciated them. What fascinates me most is Henan Henan Opera.

My love for drama began at an early age. I remember when I was in primary school, my father bought a small radio. Every night, some classic Henan operas are played on the radio. I always listen to the whole performance or aria. I can recite classic plays such as Mulan, The Fifth Oath, The Legend of the White Snake, Baked Red, etc. I know what to say, what to sing and how to play the drums. Of course, I will also sing and perform while listening to the radio.

Perhaps because I lived in rural Henan since I was a child, I have a special liking for Henan Henan Opera. When I was a child, the most meaningful cultural activity in the mountains was singing big plays. One year it snowed heavily in the mountains, and a troupe of more than twenty people was trapped in our place. People in the mountains are kind, so they donate their ingredients to prevent them from starving. Everyone in the troupe knows that people in the mountains love to listen to operas. In order to repay everyone's kindness, they sing operas for everyone every day regardless of the cold. At an early age, I braved the ice and snow to run three or four miles to see the opera every day. Although I knew my feet were red and swollen, I limped and insisted on going to the opera. Ten days later, the troupe left, but my feet could not walk at all.

Why is Henan Opera so attractive? I think it is mainly because of its bold and simple characteristics that people like it very much. The colloquialism of Henan opera is obvious, and the vocals of Henan opera are generally with a big accent, high voice and hearty singing. Whether lyrical or narrative, it has a unique charm and is very close to the people.

For example, a passage in "Chaoyanggou" and "My Mother": "My mother, sit down, let's talk about confidence ..." This sentence suddenly narrowed the distance with the people. "It's urgent to leave home without a quilt ...", "I was born to drink water at home, and I never left my tea three times a day ...", "I never planted land at home, and I never took a hoe ..." These words show how worried Yin Huan's mother is about her daughter's life when she arrives at her husband's family, and how many mothers care about her married daughter's life when she arrives at her husband's family!

The cheerful rhythm, smooth singing and grounded lyrics of Henan Opera make people more "energetic" and enjoyable.
