Perceptions of preschool physical education teachers’ activities: homemade teaching toys
Editor's note: Nowadays, children's physical education advocates that teachers make their own toys. What insights do physical education teachers have after participating in the study? Let's take a look!
It's really unintentional, Liu Chengyin Due to the relocation transition last summer, in order to solve the lack of outdoor venue functions, we built a large "adventure box" outdoors for the children, and they have been playing with it until now. Some time ago, my friends used it to participate in homemade teaching toy competitions in the district, city, and province, and they actually won the first prize in the city and the second prize in the province. It was an unexpected surprise. Two days ago, I chatted with one of the judges and learned the reason why he won the second prize. Naturally, I was very understanding and filled with joy.
I was invited to participate in a self-made outdoor material evaluation event at a good friend’s garden. After the event, I was asked to talk to the teachers about some ideas about self-made teaching toys. , so based on the situation and some of my own insights, I discussed the following three questions with the teachers:
Question 1: Why are we still advocating homemade educational toys today? Self-made educational toys are not a new thing. , but a traditional matter with a "long history". When it comes to homemade educational toys, what people often think of is to make up for the shortage of funds, game materials and educational toys. In the past, this was indeed an important means to solve the problem of kindergarten game activities. But today, most kindergartens, especially public kindergartens and some private kindergartens that pay attention to quality, attach great importance to the provision of facilities, equipment and teaching toys. It can be said that children do not lack toys, so what do they lack? What do we lack today? What problem are we trying to solve by making homemade teaching toys? Obviously, it is not just about solving the problem of quantity of teaching toys, but also improving the quality. From the actual point of view of children's games, most industrial educational toys can attract children to play with when they are first configured, but this interest will not last too long. There are still some shortcomings or deficiencies in structure and function, and it cannot fully meet the children's gaming needs and educational purposes. It only relies on purchased various industrialized products to carry out various gaming activities. In terms of playability, There are major deficiencies in , educational and creative aspects. Therefore, the equipment and materials configuration in kindergartens need to be purchased and made at the same time in order to more comprehensively meet the children's game needs.
Question 2: Why should we make our own educational toys? At present, kindergartens and teachers have not thought too much about the purpose, significance and practical problems that need to be solved. Analysis shows that the original intention of a considerable number of kindergarten teachers to make their own toys is not based on subjective behavior, but more to meet the work arrangements of the kindergarten. So the basic procedure is to search for some pictures online, then make some judgments and screenings, make and submit the pictures and that's the end. Many kindergartens often no longer pay attention to and follow up after the activities are over. Some of the self-made educational toys are used for environmental decoration and display, and some are left to fend for themselves in children's games. Therefore, the work of making homemade toys still requires further in-depth thinking. I personally feel that we need to think about the following two aspects: First, the target of self-made educational toys is children, and they must be able to meet the interests and game needs of children in the kindergarten; secondly, the carrier of self-made educational toys is the kindergarten, and they must be able to solve the problems of this kindergarten. Insufficient materials and lack of functions of garden equipment. From this point of view, we need to work hard from the actual situation of children and kindergartens, through observation, analysis and inventory judgment, to find the needs that need to be met and the functions that need to be supplemented, and then think about how to make self-made educational toys, so as to truly It should be targeted, rather than just making two things casually.
Question 3: How to make self-made educational toys? This question can be broken down into several small questions: What to do? What to use? Who will do it? How to do it? What to do, we have already talked about it before Based on two aspects, we also need to break the original thinking constraints based on our understanding of kindergarten courses or activities.
Take outdoor activities as an example. When many teachers think of making outdoor activity equipment, they think more from the perspective of sports. In fact, there are many activities that can be carried out outdoors. Many current kindergartens are no longer that kind of outdoor activities. Group exercises under the high control of teachers are transforming into various games that children can play independently. Various exploration, construction, art and other activities are rich and diverse. The types of activities have changed, and naturally the demand for equipment and materials has also changed. It is more rich and diverse, so homemade teaching toys can be customized according to individual needs and kindergarten conditions. The diversity of demand brings about the diversity of production materials. In addition to the common types of cartons, PPR tubes, bottles and cans, cloth and other materials, you can also collect more natural objects and daily items for production, such as with the four seasons. All kinds of materials collected through transformation, pots, pans, discarded furniture, small electrical appliances, etc. that are common to children in family life can be used as raw materials for homemade equipment after safe and hygienic treatment and appropriate modifications. . As for the groups that participate in self-control, in addition to teachers and parents being more involved, children are also an indispensable group. Allow children to transform from "enjoiers" of the original finished product to "participants" in the production process, because children's participation will bring more creative ideas to the production of teaching toys, and will also allow us to better understand the "customers". Real needs, thus making self-made teaching toys more targeted. The process of children's participation has changed and enhanced the value and significance of making homemade educational toys. Looking at the matter of self-made teaching toys from the perspective of curriculum, then we will not only focus on the final result, but from germination, process to completed operation and use, it will become a part of the class or kindergarten curriculum, and it will continue A long, long time.
To make self-made educational toys, we need to consider the actual needs and realistic levels of children, teachers and kindergartens. Why should we do this? How should we do it? How should we avoid it? Do it in a down-to-earth manner and just go through the motions? The simple and crude process avoids the embarrassing situation of consuming a lot of manpower, material resources and energy, and ending up with just a bunch of useless furnishings or even a pile of garbage. Making self-made educational toys is a task that kindergartens and kindergarten teachers need to continuously carry out inheritance and innovation, and the basic point of inheritance and innovation is to truly be based on reality and keep pace with the times.
