What is a deciduous tree?

There are many kinds of deciduous trees. Almost all the trees north of the Yangtze River in China belong to deciduous trees, such as hawthorn, pear and peach trees.

Deciduous trees, trees whose leaves all fall off in autumn and winter or dry season every year, generally refer to temperate deciduous trees, such as hawthorn, pear, apple, phoenix tree and so on. Deciduous leaves are an adaptation of plants to reduce transpiration and survive in cold or dry seasons. This habit is formed in the long-term evolution of plants. The reason of defoliation is that the sunshine is short, the internal auxin decreases and abscisic acid increases, which leads to delamination.
