Weihai, a world-class coastal highway, looks at flowers and the sea, plays diamond beaches, feeds seagulls and has seaweed houses.
Located in Rongcheng, Naxianghai is a "tourist attraction" driven by commercial real estate. There are artificial attractions, seaside libraries, seaside cafes, forest parks and diamond baths. I was deeply impressed by the Diamond Beach Bath, which is located on the coastal road and the North Sea coastline of Jiaodong Peninsula. This is a yellow crescent pebble beach. The pebbles washed by the sea were crystal clear, so I picked up two and took them home and threw them into the fish tank.
The water quality by the sea is really good. Although the beach is narrow, the sea water is as good as that in Southeast Asia. From the sea to the mountains, it is very suitable for watching the sunset. To quote a friend, "Weihai is Bali as long as you find a good angle".
There is a wooden building on the beach. There is a bathroom shower in the bathing beach on the first floor, and a coffee shop "balck coffee" on the second floor. The log structure is very harmonious with the beach, and its function is also very suitable for bathing beach. The architectural lines with the blue sky and sandy beach as the background are very suitable for taking pictures. No wonder many young ladies come to take portraits specially.
There are many kinds of coffee in the shop, but the taste is not outstanding and the cost performance is not high. But the air conditioning is enough, and it feels very good to enjoy the sea view indoors.
Weihai seaside ecology is very good, and there are many wild seagulls. Watching swans in Rongcheng in winter and seagulls in summer are two experiences that are particularly close to nature.
Close contact with seagulls, you can take a boat to the sea donkey island. Hailu Island is the largest settlement of northern black-tailed gulls and yellow-billed egrets, and it is not an exaggeration to call it Gull Kingdom. In order to protect the living environment of wild birds, it is not allowed to land on the island at present, and you can take a large yacht to visit around the island.
Birds on the island also learned to eat bait with the boat. The bait is a small cup of sea fish, which will be distributed after boarding the boat, and then poked into the sky with a bamboo stick, and the seagulls following the boat will catch it in the air. When there are many seagulls, they will compete with each other, which is quite fierce.
Tourists bring their own bread and ham on board, but when they see seagulls don't eat them themselves, they all become bird food. After a 40-minute cruise, the birds kept following, which was particularly interesting. But these gulls are timid by nature and will not take food directly from their hands.
On the west side of Hailu Island, there is a Jinshiwan Art Park, which is a comprehensive building integrating hotels, art galleries and conference centers. But I don't know whether it is because of the epidemic or other reasons. Most of the buildings are in a semi-idle state, and only some rooms are occupied by guests. If you don't stay, you have to pay the entrance fee to 40 yuan, so there are few tourists here.
From the main road, you can walk to the rocks by the sea. There is still no beach here, and the rocks are staggering. There is a sense of loneliness of living by the sea in the wilderness.
Between the reef and the road, five or six seaweed houses have been built along the coast, and the shapes of seaweed houses are various. The walls are all made of rocks, and the colors are black, gray, ochre and red. Rough texture and simple mottled surface. The most attractive thing about the whole house is the high, pointed roof, which has a great slope from the ridge to the cornice and is covered with thick gray algae. Visually, it is 1 m thick!
Seen from the side, the seaweed house looks like a weather-beaten old fisherman, wearing a thick A-shaped velvet hat. This architectural form reminds me of the houses built with crossed hands in Shirakawa Township.
Seaweed house is one of the most distinctive ecological dwellings in the world, and it is the crystallization of the collective wisdom of fishermen in coastal areas to adapt to local conditions, use local materials and create life. Because the coastal areas are rainy and humid in summer and windy and extremely cold in winter. In order to keep warm in winter and avoid the cold in summer, people build walls with local rocks, then take seaweed out of the sea, dry it and cover it on the roof. This is the origin of seaweed house.
Thick seaweed is spread on the roof, which prevents the sun from coming in in summer and the cold wind from blowing in winter. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. According to the local people, seaweed has a high salt content. After drying, it is laid on the roof, which is naturally moth-proof, anticorrosive and not easy to burn. Well-built and well-maintained seaweed houses can withstand a hundred years of wind and rain without decay. Nowadays, local people have moved into modern new houses, and there are fewer and fewer seaweed houses. Seaweed houses in many coastal villages are now listed as unique historical and cultural landscapes by the state to be protected.
If you want to see seaweed houses in Weihai, you can go to Yuehai Park, and there is one under the lighthouse.
Just before our departure, Architizer, a world-renowned architecture website, announced the winners of Architizer A+ Award. China won 29 awards. Among them, Shiwo Theater in Huancui District of Weihai won the professional evaluation award. On the day of driving, we took time to punch in before sunset and arrived at the "Shiwo Theater" in this light outdoor sports town.
At the foot of Nanshan in Wujiatuan village, shortly after entering the village, I saw a stone house "inlaid" on the mountain, which is the Shiwo Theater. It used to be an abandoned quarry, with exposed rocks and potential safety hazards such as landslides and falling rocks. And because no one cares for a long time, it has become an "environmental scar" in the village. 20 19 coincidentally, the outdoor sports town developed lightly, and the design team of the Central Academy of Fine Arts re-planned here, which is the Shiwo Theater we saw.
Taking the quarrying section as the background, the sinking part is the stage, the gentle slope section is the stepped auditorium, and the indoor space is under the stairs. The transparent ceiling lets natural light into the room. It has also become the first open-air theater transformed from a quarry in China. I mentioned many times in my previous articles that seeing a large number of modern buildings adapted to local conditions in Japanese "villages" will not affect the local environment and natural scenery, but will introduce public cultural institutions or businesses suitable for the local area, organically combine with the local society and develop healthily. However, China's "countryside" still lacks such construction consciousness and concept. The gap between rural areas and cities in cultural life is too great, which is also a typical aspect of our developing society.
The Shiwo Theater in front of us was probably due to the epidemic. At that time, activities related to light outdoor sports were not done, and the coffee shop originally located indoors was also suspended. Little Square at the gate is a place for local villagers to relax. Maybe there were few outsiders, and the two of us were in this car, which caused "villagers to watch."
Sitting in the theater in person, you can feel the exquisiteness of the design and the expectations of the designers here, but it is still because of the lack of public transportation, commerce and publicity that can be driven in this area. At present, the use of the venue can only rely on government activities and social publicity. Indeed, how many people, like me, will rent a car to see an empty theater? I hope that after winning the prize, Shiwo Theater will no longer be unknown, and there will be more reasons to attract everyone to come and give it a real chance of rebirth.
The map shows a splendid sea of flowers, so it is just right to have a look when driving by. Quiet road is really beautiful, with cherry trees planted on both sides. It's not long, but spring should be interesting. If you are in Weihai in March and April, you can come to Quiet Road to see cherry blossoms.
The greening around the entrance is very good, and many greening workers are doing maintenance. It is really unexpected that the suburbs can be so beautiful. There are no tickets in the scenic spot, only some greening workers are maintaining flowers and plants. Because there is no public transportation, people come by car, so there are not many tourists.
The flower sea is divided into several areas with different colors, such as purple verbena, yellow daisy and red string red. The variety of flowers is not very advanced, but the advantage is that the area is large and the photos are pretty good.
When it comes to coastal cities, people always think of coastal cities in the south, such as Sanya and Xiamen. In fact, Bohai Bay in the north, Weihai and Yantai in Jiaodong Peninsula have been places people yearn for since ancient times, and only by being there can we appreciate how beautiful they are.
