Imagine the picture depicted in the previous poem in April in the countryside and write it down in your own words.

The first two sentences describe natural scenes. "Green" refers to lush trees, and "white" refers to water reflecting the sky. The poet focuses on the visual perspective and depicts the bright and moving colors of the landscape. The second sentence not only uses smoke as a metaphor for rain, describing the unique scenery of plum rain in the south of the Yangtze River, but also uses the sound of birds urging plowing to add infinite vitality.

The last two sentences describe the busyness of the farmhouse. The sentence "There are few idle people in the countryside in April" depicts the busy scene of farmers in April; and the fourth sentence uses "sericulture" to echo the "green mountains and plains" in the first sentence, and "planting fields" to echo the "white Manchuan" in the first sentence. The two empty characters "cai" and "you" are very expressive, and the meaning of "busy" is obvious without saying "busy".

April in the countryside

Southern Song Dynasty - Wengjuan

The mountains are green and the rivers are white, and the rain is like smoke amid the sound of the rules.

In April in the countryside, there are few idle people, so they are planting sericulture and planting fields.

Verse Translation

The grass and trees are lush on the hillside and in the fields, and the color of the water in the rice fields complements the skylight. There is mist and rain in the sky, cuckoos are singing, and the earth is a prosperous scene.

April is here, and no one is idle. They just finished sericulture and have to plant rice again.

Appreciation of Works

This poem uses line drawing to describe the field scenery and busy farming scenes in the early summer of rural areas in the south of the Yangtze River. The first two sentences describe the natural scenery: green fields, Baichuan, Zigui, and misty rain. In just a few strokes, the unique scenery of the water town in early summer is outlined. "Green all over" is used to describe the lush vegetation, "white full" means sufficient rain, and "Zi Gui Sheng" implies the stimulation of farming, vividly showing the unique scenery of "April in the Countryside".

The last two sentences describe the busy farming work. The picture mainly highlights the image of farmers who have just harvested silkworm cocoons and are planting rice in the paddy fields, thus setting off the intensity and busyness of labor in "April in the Countryside". The former and later respond, intertwined into a brightly colored picture scroll.
