What happened at the construction site?

In 2004, because I worked in the construction industry for many years, I got up early and went to work in the dark every day. I feel very tired, so I want to take a vacation, have a good rest for a year, travel and relax myself.

About April, a friend came to me and said that a developer (whose name was not mentioned) was in urgent need of a technician who could work as a part-time quality inspector and documenter. Let me help. I hate going because I know it will be a year, and then my holiday plan will be ruined. But my friend begged me to help him, because he is in the marble business and needs orders from developers. I promised my friend.

When I arrived at the construction site, I worked hard, accurately measured the setting out and strictly controlled the quality. Many people invited guests to give gifts and told me to relax when collecting quality, but I didn't agree.

At the end of the Dragon Boat Festival, people on the construction site said that the boss (developer) would send mutton on holidays, with 4 kg of managers and 2 kg of workers. I am very happy, and my heart says that I don't need to buy meat this holiday.

Wait until the day before the festival, the boss really came to the construction site and gave everyone a meat ticket, saying that they could go to the designated butcher shop to get meat, so I happily waited for the meat ticket. However, everyone got the meat tickets, even those who played overtime, but no one had mine. The boss handed out the meat ticket and left without saying a word. Seeing others happily go to get mutton, I stayed by and waited for a while. I clearly heard someone say that it is useless to attach so much importance to quality, but I didn't treat you like a person!

At that time, mutton was only a dozen dollars a catty, and four kilograms of mutton was only fifty or sixty dollars. I didn't expect that my single-minded work brought humiliation.

Since then, I no longer adhere to the principle, relax the quality standards, and have a close relationship with the team leaders. Every day, I let them take turns to treat guests, and the karaoke bars are no longer polite to send red envelopes when they go out into the hotel. They are all accepted.

By the Mid-Autumn Festival in August, I received two live sheep, four whole cases of beef, countless moon cakes and beer, and all kinds of high-grade red wine and white wine were delivered to my home. The givers did not leave their names. I was shocked!

Since that year, I have never worked as a technician for others, and I am disheartened about construction work. I am afraid that if I continue to work, I will go to prison.
