About 996, about the balance between work and family

In the past ten years, I have traveled 200 nights a year in 996, commuting 4 hours a day, paddling at work and herding sheep after work.

Now I seem to be able to see clearly how long it is appropriate to work and how to coordinate work and life.

First of all, I object to the demonization of 996 now. This is a voluntary choice. Work is not imprisonment. No one forces you to choose to work overtime or not. You can't adapt to the requirements of working hours. You can change companies and projects.

Those who say they have no choice should know that most desperate choices are made by themselves. Either they are not strong enough and no one wants to take over, or they are too obsessed with it, too tired, don't want to work overtime, and feel that they earn less money.

So 996 is a good choice at the right time and in the right state. If you just need to make a breakthrough in an industry, and your physical strength is just enough, then after a period of time, 996 is likely to earn more than a job without overtime and leisure, and win more choices for the future.

People are lazy. I don't believe that most people who are not in 1996 will study in their spare time. They may just play drama and play games. This is called relaxation. In fact, relaxation is a metaphysics. Playing games may not be relaxing or even more tiring, but the reward must be lower than work.

Ordinary people have a hurdle in middle age, and psychological anxiety and panic are almost inevitable. If you want to be more calm during that time, you have to pay more before and spend your time on things with higher return on investment. Time is fair, and you never lie.

Some people talk about 996 when they are young, but they really spend their time on meaningless things. It's embarrassing that people start to spit out the nostalgia of the company when they reach middle age.

Let's talk about family life. What is family life? In fact, it is countless trivial matters and one or two relatively long-term projects, such as travel, childbirth, education and medical care. It is said that we should balance time for family life, what to do after balance, whether to do trivial things or projects. This is actually a big problem.

If you balance your working hours to do trivial things, the cost performance is actually quite low, and even your personal experience is not good, which may be worse than your work, but how long will the project take? I'm afraid that in most cases, taking 996 as an example, you don't have to take too much time off to do it, because there are public holidays, annual leave and so on.

But if there is no money, the project experience in life will only be worse. You can't get paid for housework, only work can be rewarded.

Therefore, before balancing work and life, we should first think clearly about what today's work is for, what will be given to you tomorrow, what is important and what is secondary in life, what is most needed in life at this stage, money, companionship, projects in life, or whether we want to stop after a few years, and then match the work style and find a suitable job according to the goals of life.
