Four realms of reading

Like practicing martial arts and cultivating immortals, reading is divided into several realms. But this realm, different people have different points.

Some people say that the three realms of reading are: first, read the book thinly, then read the book thickly, and finally read the book thinly. This division is similar to "seeing a mountain is a mountain", "seeing a mountain is not a mountain" and "seeing a mountain or a mountain".

Some people think that the realm of reading is just like Wang Guowei's description of three realms of life in Ci Hua on Earth. The first realm is: "The west wind withered the green trees last night. Alone in the tall building, look at the end of the world. " The second realm is: "I don't regret the gradual widening of my belt, and I am emaciated for Iraq." Today, I watched the video of Luo Xiang, a law professor. He divided reading into four realms. The first realm is: reading to escape from the world; the second realm is: reading to create the world; the third world is: reading to understand the world; and the fourth realm is: reading to surpass the world.

I still have some feelings about Professor Luo's classification.

Let's talk about the first realm: reading to escape from the world. Nine times out of ten, life is unhappy. For everyone, everything goes well in the world, but there are more unpleasant things. When our desires are not satisfied and we can't master our own life trajectory, for some people, they are unwilling to degenerate, but they don't know how to get along with the world, so they immerse themselves in books, turn a deaf ear to things outside the window and read only sage books.

They huddle in books, and they escape from reality. On the other hand, they feel that they are at least better than those who brush short videos and play games every day, but there is no difference between them in essence. The biggest difference comes from the evaluation of others.

The second realm is reading to create the world. In my opinion, there is little difference between this realm and the first realm. When their desires can't be satisfied, they can only build this perfect world from books. In the books, they are omnipotent. Like those men with leading roles, they control their own destiny and write their own legends. They are giants in books and dwarfs in reality.

the third realm: reading to understand the world. Books are the sum of human experience. When it comes to this realm, we can't help talking about Bacon's Talking about Reading, in which he said: "Reading history makes people wise, reading poetry makes people witty, mathematics makes people careful, and science makes people profound". Every book contains the author's understanding of the world.

After reading Walden, you can feel the harmony between man and nature with Rousseau. Read A Brief History of Time, and you can enjoy the mystery of the universe with Hawking.

Our ancestors wrote books about their understanding of the world. We read books and learn their understanding of the world from them, which can be used to understand and explain the present world. When you reach this level, you can build a bridge between books and reality, and combine practice and theory to better serve the present.

the fourth realm: reading to surpass the world. Books are just the predecessors' understanding of the world, but this is not your understanding. History is always strikingly similar, but it will never be repeated.

Reading is not only for understanding the present world, but also for reviewing the history for a better future. We not only learned knowledge from books, but also helped us to understand the world. More aware of the spirit of our ancestors to overcome difficulties and struggle hard. Let's never give up on ourselves, no matter how bad things happen, and keep moving forward firmly to surpass the world in the book and create a better world.

Now, I have all three realms. On the one hand, I am confused about the future, which makes me feel at a loss. On the other hand, I am always helpless to escape from reality in books. On the other hand, I am connected with reality in books, that is, I am understanding the world and creating the world, but this is just my powerless utopia, which is always a castle in the air and my eyes are low.

But I haven't given up on myself. I am eager to control my own destiny. I want to combine everything in the book with reality and theory with practice, so that I can not only review history, but also look forward to the future and grasp the precious present.

Maybe I have a fourth realm, that is, I will never give up until I surpass the world.
